Brown Gold 100% Peruvian Coffee Capsules

Brown Gold 100% Peruvian Coffee

Peru has been getting quite the reputation in the coffee community lately, likely due to the incomparable taste of its brew. There are two things that contribute to that.

The first is how it’s grown--responsive, quality-focused farmers have been growing the beans organically since 1700 AD, using a technique that has been passed down from generation to generation.

The second is the fact that modern technology has not yet meddled with any of the 110,000 coffee farms in Peru. Great news for single-origin coffee lovers.

Light, Smooth, Sweet

Brown Gold Peruvian roast has a toasty smooth, medium body with low acidity and a touch of sweetness. No compromise.

RealCup pours perfect taste straight into the cup.

I was very optimistic that this coffee would be good, and actually some of it was. The reason that I rated it so low is that some of the coffee was very bad. Let me explain; I had noticed that the foil top on some of the K-cups was rounded or domed. The coffee in these cups was pretty good. The foil top on some of the K-cups was collapsed, or concave and the coffee in these cups was terrible. It may sound crazy, but there was enough of both to test my theory over and over and it held true.
I don’t know if some were old or maybe damaged, but I would think that the retailer would be concerned enough about his product that he would have better quality control, if he had, this negative review could have been avoided.

Flavor Name: Ethiopian Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
The roast level isn't listed here. The taste comes across as a City or Full City roast. That means a bit darker than a medium, and let me say, for the type of bean, it is roasted to PERFECTION.
Taste is subjective, so it's useless for me to say 'it tastes good'. What is good for me might be blah for you, and vice versa.
However, if enjoy balanced acidity with a crisp white wine-ish finish, this is for you. Not a powerful espresso type as a French or Italian roast, this is without the slight smoke, and has only a slight toasty body, like a wiff of a bread under a broiler right before it starts to smoke. For that reason, if you take milk and/or sugar, the sweetness of either is a lovely foil.

I happen to love a City roast, and it's such a delight and rarity to see an Ethiopian bean roasted this way. It held up well even iced with milk, the only (slight) complaint is that it does not hold well after brewing.

Not a problem, it will be gone from your cup in no time flat!

Update: visual examination of pre-brewed grounds shows a perfect Full City, not a Dark roast. Another thing that sets this marvelous brew apart is the patented 'RealCup' which is slightly different from (and not affiliated with) a 'K-Cup'. Had some friends over for a coffee tasting, this Ethiopian scored high.

UPDATE 8/1/13 I tried Peruvian, and came RUNNING back to Ethiopian.

Just got this the other day. Nice sampler, coffee from many different countries, no blends, just beans from the area. All of them are good, ranging from mild to bold in flavor so there is something for everyone. The Brazilian is an extra bold, gives you a bit more coffee in the cup. There was even Peruvian, I didn't know they grew coffee, very nice stuff. Looks like we are getting some more choices now to the Green Mountain and Tully's blends. This is good for the consumer, more choices and lower prices from competition.

I originally bought the Brown Gold variety pack capsules. I preferred the bolder flavor of the colombian and ethiopian blends. I recommend trying the Brown Gold variety pack capsules first. I placed my second order for the Brown Gold colombian capsules and the product shipped the next day. I am impressed. Brown Gold coffee capsules have an amazingly great coffee flavor and are smooth. The cost is reasonable. Bottom line, taste great. I will look forward to buying this product again.

My husband and I love the Costa Rican capsule. I had Costa Rican coffee in Coast Rica and this capsule is bang on the same. I love the fact that I can find 100% single coffees, not blends. We brew it on the medium cup setting and that is just perfect.

I'm gonna pass on all the hokum about citrus and green tea scents--coffee tasting, like wine tasting, is mainly mental. But for 50 cents a cup this is as good a coffee as you've ever had out of a Keurig.

Got this as a free sample but won't be buying it. I prefer a stronger, bolder flavor and this was just too weak. This is a common problem with K-cups, unfortunately. I'm sticking with Emeril's Big Easy Bold which is still my favorite by far.

Flavor Name: Ethiopian Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
The more I drink of this coffee, the more I like it. Brown Gold Ethiopian blend has a very nice, rich flavor. This is a bold coffee but doesn't taste like it can walk away. It has a mellow flavor that is strong but not too overwhelming. I have recently been drinking Sumatra coffee, and while I do like strong coffee and prefer French roast, the Sumatra is way too strong and is bitter with a bitter after taste. This Ethiopian blend of coffee is somewhere in the middle and has a nice clear flavor perfect for the morning brew.

I found this particular K-cup to have the perfect amount of coffee for my morning cup but isn't too strong that it jolts me awake. I would highly recommend you try Brown Gold for the Keurig if you like a bold coffee that doesn't taste too overwhelmingly strong. This one has nice under tones of flavor that make it a sophisticated, good tasting coffee. I also think that for the quality of this coffee, the 48 cup count is a good deal for the price. The packaging for these 'capsules' is also a pretty gold color which I really like.
