One Dope Mexican & DTTX!,

Lighter Shade Of Brown are a Chicano hip hop trio from Riverside, CA that consists of O.D.M. (One Dope Mexican) & D.T.T.X. (Don't Try to Xerox) they are kind of like Cypress Hill or Funkdoobiest, yet they are not total reeferatics like B-Real or Son Doobiest. Brown & Proud is an alright album, though I much rather prefer Hip Hop Locos!
Brown & Proud is no different than any of their other albums, though I luv their Re-mixes of the hit song Spill The Wine! El Varrio is a pretty tight song, so is the layed back good day song On a Sunday Afternoon. Best songs are 1, *2, *3, 4, 7, 9, 10 & 11.

Where do I start with these guys? Lets see, their music was potent & driving force in the Latin Rap Game. Their music was an Integral Influence on Chicano Rap. They were on of the first acts to introduce the Sound of Chicano Rap to the masses and the first to establish a Strong Following in the Latin Rap Market. Brown & Proud,Lighter Shade of Brown's first studio release proved to be Propulsive & Powerful Hip-Hop Music with a Meaningful Message. Lighter Shade's album was amusical mix of traditional Mexican music elements such as

Where do I start with these Vatos? Let's see they were a potent & driving force in the latin rap industry. LSOB's music was an Integral Influence on Chicano Rap. They were one of the first acts to introduce the Sound of Chicano Rap to the masses and the first to establish a strong following in the Latin Rap Market. ODM(One Dope Mexican) and DTTX(Don't Try To Xerox),Collectively the Lighter Shade of Brown crew proudly represented La Raza. Brown & Proud,Lighter Shade of Brown's first studio release proved to be Propulsive & Powerful Hip-Hop Music with a Meaningful Message. Lighter Shade's album was a musical mix of many styles. It had traditional Mexican music elements such as percussion and Hard-Edged West Coast Funk Flavors with good instrumentation as well as beats that you could bump in your trunk. Every song on this disc is as addictive as the next. Some songs are Informative & Enlightening Lyrically (Brown & Proud,El Varrio,Pancho Villa and so on). While others are Straight Up Party Jams and Grooves to Cruise 2 (Spill The Wine,Paquito Soul,T.J. Nights,& Latin Active are a few of the funky cuts). Either way,Lighter Shade puts it down 4 the Brown. If you're interested in Latin Rap and want something to introduce you to the genre, but don't know where to start; Definately buy this album or anything by Lighter Shade of Brown.
