The Brown & Sharpe 599-765 five-piece machinist’s center punch set is supplied with five center punches with diameters 1/16, 5/64, 3/32, 9/64, and 5/32. Each is approximately 4” long with knurled handles for a secure grip. They are made from hardened steel with tempered ends, and have a black, oxide finish for rust resistance. The set features angle-ground points for strength and punch mark penetration.
A punch is a metal rod with a shaped tip and a blunt end. They are used to drive objects including nails and to mark the center of a point such as the center of a hole when drilling holes.
