5.0 out of 5 stars Works great
I was a Marine Corps Armorer (small arms repairman). When stationed at Camp Schwab Okinawa Right on the ocean, all our weapons were stored in a hot locker. The source of heat were rows of light bulbs. The reasoning is that if the metal parts of the weapons are warmer than the ouside air, moisture won't be attracted to the weapon. It works, none of my hundreds of weapons...

3.0 out of 5 stars I "think" it's working..?!
The heater was shipped in a timely manner and what I ordered is what I received.!! The cord was of a generous length and it was easy to install the heater. My only concern is that the temperature that it produces is not much -- sufficient..? I've had it about a month now and I "think" it is working as the dehumidifier chemicals I have in my safe only produced as small...

The source of heat were rows of light bulbs. The reasoning is that if the metal parts of the weapons are warmer than the ouside air, moisture won't be attracted to the weapon. It works, none of my hundreds of weapons ever formed rust on them. This product does the same thing in your gun safe.

I almost don't know what to say. I needed a dehumidifier and this did the trick. It appears to be the same one I purchased 10-years ago which is still working well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Browning Dehumidifier 18", January 12, 2009

I recommend this dehumidifier to anyone who is looking for a great way to keep moisture away from your firearms and valuables. I have a 49 cubic foot gun safe, and my 18" Everdry dehumidifier is able to keep the temperature in my safe several degrees above that of the temperature outside the safe, causing the moisture to be forced out around the door opening. Great product.

I had an extreme problem with rust on my rifles and was tired of oiling and getting it off multiple times a week. I bought this dehumidifier as a last resort and I haven't had to clean or oil a rifle for the rust problem in over 3 months. I just drilled a small hole in the back corner of the safe and it went in no problem. This works great and even if you don't have a problem with rust, I would recommend getting one.

My gun cabinet is in an unfriendly enviroment, my basement. It is somewhat heated, has a/c and a dehumidifier, but I wanted to make sure my guns would not rust. I followed instuctions setting it up, and it is a little warmer in there than my room temperature. I'm using it in an old '60s era wood/glass sliding door cabinet. So far so good!

UPDATE 1/18/2012

It's winter here and about 52 degrees where my gun cabinet is in the basement. I reached in today to grab a rifle, and was surprised at how warm it was. The stick does the trick!

UPGRADE from 4 stars to 5 stars, worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, saves you a few bucks., July 8, 2008
If you've got guns in a safe or small closet and want to protect them from rust this is the ticket. You'll save a few bucks over what the speciality dealers want for the same product too.

My only concern is that the temperature that it produces is not much -- sufficient..? I've had it about a month now and I "think" it is working as the dehumidifier chemicals I have in my safe only produced as small amount of water. (It's overkill, but I wanted to make sure.)

Installation went OK, I wished the rod had an inline "plug" to making routing the cord through the hole in the back of the safe, but the product seems to be performing as described. Haven't seen any rust on my guns.

So far, so good. Cheaper than a GR and does the same job. LG Outdoors is an EXCELLENT vendor.
