This book was written in German in 1986 and translated into English in 1989.The background material on the House of Bru is very informative, describing the differences and changes in doll face and body development as well as doll markings during the ownership of Bru, Chevrot and Girard. There are lovely color photos of the dolls produced during each period. The translation, though always understandable, at times clearly reflects German rather than English grammar. (I actually enjoyed it.) I had fun reading about the House of Bru and poring over the wonderful photographs of these lovely dolls. The price is right, especially compared with more recent books written about Bru dolls. |
