5.0 out of 5 stars repeat after me KUNG FU BRAWLER
First of all this game is made to look and sound like an old Kung Fu movie. That is why there is such bad voice-acting. That is also the reason for the strange camera angles. Next, people have been saying there are only 4 or 5 combos you can do, I guess thats because they haven't played training mode which allows you to do all of the moves you have to buy in the game...

There are so many things about this game that make it stupid. Luckily, I only rented it (and returned it the same night *lol*). I feel sorry for anyone who had to buy it. This has got to be the most disapointing game ever for the mighty XBOX. Here's why:

1.0 out of 5 stars Did they say better better than DOA3?, October 23, 2002
This review is from: Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon (Video Game)
There are so many things about this game that make it stupid. Luckily, I only rented it (and returned it the same night *lol*). I feel sorry for anyone who had to buy it. This has got to be the most disapointing game ever for the mighty XBOX. Here's why:

1. The gameplay: it's just uninteresting! You walk around as Bruce Lee from a side view, A SIDE VIEW. You kill people with 2 lame moves (punch and kick) and collect the coins that come after they die. It's so lame and dull, it's LAUGHABLE! It's way to easy, and beating up the people is so dull. 2 lame moves, and all the bad guys look the same. You advance and keep collecting coins. An ametuer gamer could beat this in 1 night!...

2. The graphics = horrible! Oh my goodness, Bruce Lee looks like a girl in tights (which is such an insult to his memory) and all the villains look exactly the same (red ninjas). Oh, and the coins that you get our the size of Bruce's head. The 2 lame moves don't even look real either. I played this game ad beat 3 levels in 10 minutes. I basily fell asleep in my chair. When I woke up, I returned it immediatly!

3. The reputation it tried to take. I mean, come on: Bruce Lee. What kind of people created this game; to insult his memory; this game is HORRIBLE! On the cover, it even went as far as to say it was BETTER than DOA3! I own DOA3, and it is a hundred million times better than this junk.

I hope I've proved to you why u shouldn't buy this game. It is so... easy to beat and so boring at that. I'd rather watch grass grow. There are so many better games to buy for it's price:... If it was about 5 bucks, I might counsider buying it. But for everything else I can get for that price, I guess I'll have to pass...*lol*

1.0 out of 5 stars The Worst Game of all time, December 9, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon (Video Game)
Sorry people! This game is a dud. The controls are unresponsive and the realistic gameplay is not even there. If u see Bruce Lee climb up steps in this game, u will see that no one would even try to climb steps that way. This game deserves a 0.1 out of five but the scale is 1 to 5. So I give this a 1 out of five only because i like fighting games. And trust me this is being generous.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst game I've played for the box!!!, November 25, 2002

Guys, I don't know what you all are smoking, but get off of it quick. This game is horrible, from the opening cinema to the end of the game, if you even bother to suffer through the first three unispired levels of it. The controls are terrible, i could press a kick button sometimes and i wouldnt even get a response. The targeting system is wack, most of the time you'll spend sorting through targets that are 20 feet away, when you have one beating the holy bejeezus out of you right in front of your face. Which brings me to the amazingly cheap A.I. *if it can even be called intelligence* who will frustrate you to no extent by following the same cheap patterns. One behind, one in front, and while you're attempting to hit the enemy in front of you *who is usually ducking!!* the one behind is pummeling you unmercifully. When you try to turn around *which will sometimes take a couple seconds* to try defend yourself, the enemy who was doing the pummeling now runs away like a twelve year old school girl, leaving your back open for more brutal punishment from the other enemy. The graphics are ps1 worthy at best *not even dreamcast standard* doesn't even begin to tap into what xbox can do. I can't bear to even give this game a point *even though I have to give it one star, which I'm not even going to count* because I am a diehard bruce fan, and ronin games is doing nothing but tarnishing his amazing legend by releasing such a crappy, and obviously rushed game. Sorry, but I had to bring it straight and be blunt. This game doesn't even deserve a rental.

2.0 out of 5 stars Old School Fun, Not for Xbox!!, September 11, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon (Video Game)
This game would have been great for the Atari game system, but for what Xbox can do it sux. The graphics are cheasy. There is a water like ripple going down the screen and it's on all the copies. Also the fighting controls in the crouching position are difficult to use. Save your money or buy something else.

1.0 out of 5 stars Friends don't let friends play 'Quest of the Dragon', July 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon (Video Game)
People have been writing reviews for this game that haven't even played it yet. Can anyone tell me why? I wish they would hold off on writing their "reviews" until they've actually played the game.

"I saw a screenshot of the game and it looked like it had people and they were fighting! SWEEEEEEET!!! 5-stars!"

Whatever. =)

Anyway, I actually have the game in my living room right now (rented, thank God), so what I've got for you is an opinion from someone who's actually played the game.

Ronin Entertainment licensed the most recognizable martial arts figure around; good for them. It probably wasn't easy and it probably wasn't cheap. Why, then, would they then proceed to develop a game that fails in every key area (graphics, sound, controls, gameplay, fun) ...Something went horribly wrong on the way to making a good game. Software publishers seem to use the shotgun approach to releasing software--get as many titles as possible can in front of the consumer and every once in a while you'll have a profitable hit that will make up for all those titles that didn't break even. If the focus would instead be on releasing fewer titles with a much higher focus on quality, everyone would win in the end.

So let's sum it up here: I see absolutely no reason why anyone should even THINK about buying this game. If you're a huge Bruce Lee fan and feel you must own the game on principle alone, do yourself a favor and DON'T! You work hard for your money--don't blow it on garbage like this!

1.0 out of 5 stars BORING!!!!!!!, October 5, 2004

i am a huge bruce lee fan and when i saw this game at a flea market i just had to have it. i bought the game hoping that it would be worth the $ i paid for it, but unfortunately i was wrong. the first couple of days that you play it are ok, cause you're like "man i'm kicking everybodys butt!!!" but after the 3rd or 4th level it gets boring. i mean really boring. all you do is run a little and you get ambushed by 3-6 guys at one time, which isnt all that bad because it isnt that hard to beat them, but the thing is that after you defeat 1 or 2 another 1 comes out of nowhere. the controls for this game stunk because you could only hit one person at a time, while you're getting your butt whopped. i'm telling you DON'T BUY THIS!!!!! if you really want to play it go out and rent it and you will see how bad it is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better, August 28, 2003

This game isn't all that bad. The graphics are perfect. The character looks just like bruce lee. The major and only problem with this game is the fighting. It's horrible. It makes Bruce look like an entry level fighter, not an dynamic martial arts master. His kicks and punches are not direct like they are in his movies. They should have put more work into this. I'll say if they would have put at least another year into this game I guarantee it would have been the bomb.

The first thing I thought of after 10 minutes of playing this game was playing "Urban Champion" on my old Nintendo system. For those of you who had the pleasure of NEVER playing "Urban Champion", it consisted of you standing on the left-hand side of the screen and punching a guy who stood on the right-hand side of the screen. Granted with this game you get some decent graphics and you can walk around and beat-up people, but beyond that this game hasn't really progressed beyond the 1980s "beat-em-up" games. It's a 2002 Bruce Lee version of "Urban Champion". Basically, you walk around and fight people using Bruce Lee's own fighting style. They went to great lengths to make the fighting styles authentic using motion capture from a guy who studied under Lee for his moves and a bunch of other experts for the bad guys, so the moves and graphics are pretty sweet -- but the combos aren't the easiest to learn. But hey, it turns out you don't really need them to beat the game anyway(which should only take a day or so even for the most novice of gamers). A huge disapointment.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon, July 8, 2002
By A Customer

Game play is annoying because you have to buy all of your fighting moves. Bruce Lee fans will enjoy the fact that they can play as the greatest martial artist ever, but the game itself is just okay. Borrow it or rent it first. You will save yourself the trouble of having to return an average game.
