Book Description

Describes the life of the popular rock musician, singer, and songwriter Bruce Springsteen.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 6-8-An honest picture of the "pop culture legend." In clearly written journalistic prose, Frankl candidly describes his subject's working-class background, his conflicts with his father, and his distaste for school. He recounts how Springsteen became interested in music: how it filled the void in his life and became his focus. Early career disappointments and frustrations are chronicled, as are the successes, along with the recording artist's efforts in promoting human rights and the cause of workers. A scanty selection of black-and-white photographs is scattered throughout. Biographies by Peter Gambaccini (Putnam, 1985; o.p.) and Marianne Meyer (Ballantine, 1984) are similiar in scope, but Frankl's book updates the information. A worthwhile addition.
