5.0 out of 5 stars Great Truck Very detailed and durable.
Got this for my 4 1/2 yr old and he loves it. Fanastic detail, just like the real thing. Doors open, hood opens and of course it dumps. I was impressed when my son and his 6yr old cousin, ( who breaks everything he touches) started pushing it around the backyard at max speed and it stood the test but when I accidentally dropped a 5 foot 2x4 on it and there wasn't so...

3.0 out of 5 stars Handsome but not hardy
Shiny & very handsome; what I always wanted as a kid but never got. However, swiveling doors & mirrors are very flimsy plastic, had to be reworked to open easily & are too delicate for 4 or 5 yr. old. Must yank on truck bed to open. Tires & body sturdy but more suitable for indoor play. Front wheels do not turn so truck has to be skidded around curves. Definitely not for...

A bit smaller than advertised: 20" L, 6.75" W, 9" Ht. Too bad it isn't made out of metal.Overall more luxurious than practical.

3.0 out of 5 stars not a rough boy toy, January 12, 2009

Bought two for Christmas. Boys are 6 and 4. They love the trucks!! But I DONT!!!! I know that by the end of January something on the truck will be broken. Everthing is plastic and fragile. My boys want to push the trucks all over the place and they can't because the truck wiggles underneath them. So they sit and play with them instead of being active and then they get bored after about 10mins. They will not get the oppurtunity to haul rocks and dirt because it is not sturdy enough for that. A dump truck that can't haul that's handy. What happen to toys made to be played with. Not really worth the money. I should have sent them back and went to Walmart and bought Tonka!!!!

I was impressed when my son and his 6yr old cousin, ( who breaks everything he touches) started pushing it around the backyard at max speed and it stood the test but when I accidentally dropped a 5 foot 2x4 on it and there wasn't so much as a scratch I was really suprised. We've had it about 4 months and it's been in the sandbox, the dirt pile and up and the driveway a hundred times and still looks and plays great. Bruder makes great toys. Highly recomended

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for kids that like trucks!, December 22, 2008

My son got this dump truck a couple days ago for an early X-mas we had and he really enjoys it. I also got my best friends son one for his 3rd B-day and he really enjoys it too. It seems to be very durable except for the mirrors which look like they will break fairly easy. The truck is a little costly but it isn't like any other toy dump truck this looks like a real mack you see on the road. I recommend this for any kid who loves big trucks!

I bought this for my son on his third birthday. He instantly loved it right out of the box (what kid wouldn't). As it was raining, he played indoors with it all day. It held up well to his play, but he's very gentle with it. Great movement + realistic = kid win.

However, there are two flaws to this truck. First, like everyone states, the mirrors are flimsy. I was scared to move them into their open position, as they felt ready to snap off.

Second, this truck is not easy to push around in grass or in the sand box. The engine casing is designed to flip forward to reveal the engine. It is held shut on either side by tiny rubber straps that are looped over tiny tabs. Unfortunately, other than the engine casing, there is no great place for little (or big) hands to push this guy around. As a result, the tiny bands are overwhelmed and the casing flips open again and again.

We have four Bruder construction toys so this review is going to show up in all four places. These are all very well made, lots of details. They are made of plastic and of course could be broken but they were thoughtfully designed and are reasonably durable. The mirrors on the Mack dump truck are probably the weakest item, but if they were to break off the truck would be otherwise functional. Toys break. We took this as an opportunity to try to help our three year old grandson understand that a little care was required if he wanted these to last and he's responded well. So far, nothing's broken on any of them, despite hours of use.

These all have so much intriguing detail that the kids are immediately drawn to them. We have about a hundred buckeye nuts for them to push around and load without making a difficult mess. They all have moving parts that allow them to perform their real world functions. There are detents built in to hold position, so for example with the bulldozer, backhoe and front loader, the blades can be fixed and held in several different positions.

As far as toys go, these are a little pricey but even a three year old understands from the detail that these are different that the coarser, simpler $5 - $10 equivalents. These clearly look like the "real" things. We've all had a lot of fun with these.

They don't tell you anywhere, but if you look in the catalog, the front of this truck has brackets for a snow plow, unfortunately the marginal cost seems high at $20 so we passed. This is a delightfully imposing toy.

This is the second Bruder truck I have purchased for my 2-1/2 year old grandson. I am very pleased with the authentic detail of the dump truck. The truck holds up well and encourages independent, imaginary play. My grandson is very excited that the truck looks just like the trucks he sees on his walks around the neighborhood.Mack Granite Dump Truck by Bruder Trucks

My son got this toy for Christmas. He plays with it all the time. The neatest thing about it is that there are so many other construction toys in the line that share the same detail and scale. My son is 6 and never tires of these (nearly 2 months now).
