Bruder MAN Cement Mixer

When santa delivered this toy my boys were almost 3 yrs & just turned 5 yrs. After careful reviews this was one of two bruder trucks we purchased. The truck, because of its size, colors, and because it really works, was and is super cool to my guys. They both love it and play with it equally. Will it break? It may at some time, nothing in this world is lasting, it's plastic, and played with by boys. There are no obvious plastic pieces that stick out and look as if they'd be the first to break. However, I took the time to show my boys what parts could break and how that might happen. They can sometimes be rough boys, and they carry it around the house and up and down flights of stairs, but they love their trucks. However, days go by where they didn't even touch the truck, which surprised me. Then one day I dumped a bag of dried white beans into a kitchen pan of mine, placed the pan on the floor in the playroom, and showed the boys how the beans could be turned into the barrel of the mixer, or cranked out, while the beans pour out of the chute as concrete would. I have to be creative during our long WI winters. This the boys fell in love with. This changed everything. Now every day the beans and concrete mixer are taken out and played with. When summer comes, I'm not too sure I like the idea of sand in the truck, any type of dried legumes, beans, or corn kernals seems preferable. As for the educational factor, we barrow library books and dvds about concrete mixers & learn the proper names of its parts, how one has to drive slower and use even greater care when driving such large equipment. The boys love it. I'm pretty frugal, and a lot of thought and research goes into each gift my children receive. This will be played with for a few years, and I am happy (with the addition of the beans) how much they play with it. It is a great purchase I recommend.

UPDATE- Almost 2 years have gone by since I've purchased this toy, it's still very special to my boys, it's still one of the first toys played with by visiting friends, and still in perfect condition.

My son received this toy for Christmas. He spends a lot of time with it each day making concrete. He especially likes the water tank and hose. A great feature is that it functions just like a real concrete mixer. He's pretty rough on his toys but so far this one has held up quite well.

This cement mixer has moving parts such as the actual mixer and the chute (where cement comes down). It is great to use in the sandbox. My boys can pour sand into the top opening. Turn the handle one way, and the sand goes into the mixer. Turn it the other way, the sand inside the mixer gets poured out down the chute. A little pricey, but realistic and engaging.

My 3ds received this for his birthday and likes it. It is realistic and BIG. He has a whole construction company in our family room and enjoys pretending he's building things. Until now, he did not have a cement mixer so this fit the bill. As with the other toys made by this company, the plastic is very thin and if played with too roughly, will break. NOT an outside toy IMO.

An excellent toy, which stimulates the imagination and creativity of young truck lovers. My four-year old grandson spent Christmas day using this truck with LEGOS for foundation forms and lentils for concrete. He continues to employ the truck as a major element of his fleet engaging in demolition and construction.

Since it is an actual "working" cement truck, you can pour water in, and it comes out the hose. Very fun in the tub. My son plays with it quite a bit. I like the Bruder products.

My son received this as a gift for Christmas after he played with some Bruder trucks at a friends house. I'm so disappointed in it! It's basically a plastic truck, nothing special and most certainly doesn't seem any more durable than a $15 truck I can get at Toys R Us. My son LOVES big trucks and he barely bats an eye at this one. Most definitely NOT what I expected for such an expensive toy.

Bruder means durability, attention to detail, and excellent playability! We have the dump truck with pup trailer, the concrete truck, and one of the garbage trucks. Don't let the all-plastic construction worry you- these things are tough, and are worth every penny.

Truck-obsessed 2 year old got this for his birthday. It is the first thing he wants to play with every morning and the last at night. At first we were worried because it didn't seem to be as sturdy as some of the Tonka trucks, but it has held up extremely well and its light weight makes it easy for him to carry around. Be warned: The cap on the water tank does come off and could be a choking hazard to small children, which is probably why this truck is rated for ages 3 and over.

We bought this cement truck for our grandson who is two years old. For two weeks, he played with little else, even taking it to bed with him. My daughter says it is holding up well to the onslaught of fundom her son is putting it through.
Only Christmas has made him look elsewhere. Of course, what he got for Christmas was more construction trucks. We think he is going to be a construction engineer when he grows up:-)
