A crane truck for more than logs,

My son requested this for Christmas & since we've been pleased with Bruder trucks in the past, this was worth the price. The only flaw I've noticed so far is the claw of the crane is not permanently attached to the crane arm, so I've found it in some odd places around the house. Otherwise both my boys play with it & it totes more than just logs from room to room.

Our 3-1/2 year old, who is a very tough customer with an impressive fleet of trucks, returns to this one over and over again. It is his favorite model, only contested by the cement truck made by the same company.
This truck, which must have over 100,000 very demanding child miles on it by now, is still in working order with all original running gear intact. Recommended.

The Bruder Man Timber truck is a great product for any child who respects his/her toys. It's sturdy and allows a child's imagination get carried away. I bought this for my 3 year-grandson. He spends hours with the truck and the JCB 3220 Fastrac loader. Only negative is that three logs aren't enough.

Like most Bruder toys, this truck is of great quality but with a few more delicate moving parts that may not be suitable for really small children (under 3 maybe). Mine is almost 4 and still cannot quite pick up the logs with the claw attached to the crane. He prefers to use his hand as the crane and do the claw manually!

We have purchased several Bruder trucks for our 3 yr old grandson. He wanted this truck for you 4th birthday. In the first hr of playing with it. His baby sister fell over it and the crane snapped off. I am surprised on a toy that states they are tough and for long years of playing that the crane was so fragil. It is an important part of the toy and should be much stronger reinforce.

My boys got this for Christmas in 2010 & it still looks great. The sides lower & the "chains" are wonderful. The knuckleboom is a definite plus as far as the children were concerned!

I bought this truck for my 5 year old grandson. He plays for hours loading and unloading the logs. He has a fork lift that belonged to his Dad that he moves the logs from place to place with, then loads and hauls them. Hand to eye coordination is enhanced when maneuvering the hoist and learning balance points when picking logs up. All parts appear strong and durable. Time will tell how well it holds up.

My son is a huge Bruder truck fanboy, and he recently became the proud owner of this logging truck. He loves it! Bruder toys are made in Germany and are known for their realistic toy designs. (My 5 year old has watched every promo video in detail over and over.) This truck is pretty large (about 16" long and 8" tall), and made of a sturdy plastic. What I like about the toy is that it is a less-common vehicle, it looks cool, it's pretty large, and the plastic is not brittle. While my son really likes this toy, I am a little disappointed. The thing that makes the toy cool (it's just like the real thing!) is also a drawback because the (plastic) chains that go across the flatbed come off of the truck and there is no place to store them. Unless your kid is good at keeping all the pieces on the truck, the chains can easily get lost. The gates on the sides of the flatbed can be put down, but this means that the hinges on the bottom of the gates are all that is keeping the gates intact. After just a week or so of playing with them, one of the gates completely snapped off. The truck only comes with three logs, so if you buy it, I recommend buying the separate package of 5 logs from Bruder. As a sidenote, I really like the plastic logs! They are durable and nice-looking, and great for pretend play. I was kind of hoping these toys would look like the real thing AND be completely indestructible, but I guess that's just too much to hope for! Still, Bruder toys are well-made, and if you have any truck enthusiast kiddos, you might as well just buy them one nice truck instead of three junky ones. Pros: Looks almost like a real logging truck Grappling arm crane is cool Truck is pretty big Fun to play with Good design & materials The logs are cool Cons: Chains are detachable, which means they can be lost easily Back gate can be broken if handled roughly My 5 year-old says he likes it because "because we got 'real' logs for it, it has a grapple, and that it can carry logs, and that the sides can go down."

This truck is probably the favorite for my grandson. Not only did it keep him entertained, but kept his daddy, uncle and Papaw entertained as well. I don't know who had more fun, it is made just like the real thing!

I bought 6 Bruder trucks for my two sons over the last two holiday seasons. Some of them have held up, some of them haven't. Every Bruder truck we have had with a crane -- it has broken off from the base (where it's attached to the truck). It's frustrating because we can't afford to replace toys like this regularly, so when something breaks it's a big disappointment. They continue playing with them joyfully but it is their father and I who get upset and disappointed, because we feel our money was spent unwisely.Children are heavy-handed and they play rough, so any toy design should compensate for this. If you have boys who tend to break things often, forgo these and opt for something cheaper that you won't mind as much if it gets broken. Perhaps a well-made smaller vehicle. These Bruders are quite large. Bottom line: this particular Bruder truck is probably not going to hold up long in clumsy, little, rough-mannered hands. It might be better for an older child (8-10). |
