4.0 out of 5 stars So Cool!
Now I've seen everything. Brujeria have pulled off the greatest joke in metal history. Hell, even if they were serious, I'd still like them. A band of Mexican drug-traffickers that hate white people and worship Satan--come on, how priceless is that? Brujeria really consists of members of Fear Factory, Napalm Death, Cradle of Filth, Sepultura, Faith No More, Eyehategod,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh... Fear Factory with Mexican vocals
On Matando Gueros, Brujeria were an evil sounding grindcore band. Here, they're basically a heavier Fear Factory with Mexican-Spanish vocals. So it depends what you're looking for I suppose. Seeing as I was expecting more fast, sloppy, extreme metal with a solid sound and a dark atmosphere, I was a little disappointed. In my mind, seeing as Brujeria are really a side...

4.0 out of 5 stars So Cool!, November 17, 2002
This review is from: Brujerizmo (Audio CD)
Now I've seen everything. Brujeria have pulled off the greatest joke in metal history. Hell, even if they were serious, I'd still like them. A band of Mexican drug-traffickers that hate white people and worship Satan--come on, how priceless is that? Brujeria really consists of members of Fear Factory, Napalm Death, Cradle of Filth, Sepultura, Faith No More, Eyehategod, and others. The music is also something to behold. No Pig Destroyer/Goatwhore here. It's like early Fear Factory, but with a south-of-the-border spice to the crushing riffs and a vocalist by the name of El Brujo--screaming lyrics in Spanish. That's so great! The lyrics are also marred with Spanish swear words and foul phrases dealing with death, drugs, Satan, and the glorification of Mexico. Hell, take every death metal cliché and toss it in, cause these muchachos do it. And it sounds good. It's not Cannibal Corpse, in that it is so bad it makes you laugh/gag. It's meant to be funny, and it is. The musicianship is very tight, and the riffs are chunky and crunchy at the same time. This album starts and ends with a little girl singing, and in the first track, "Brujerizmo," it is a bit of shock to listen to some faint Spanish flamenco guitar and then at 0:44 have a riff jump and kick you en su asno. At times, though, El Brujo's Spanish death vox are just too over the top, and you have to turn the CD player off and crack up decently before starting up again. Also, with no solos, the music gets boring after a while, so I give it 4 stars. Check out Matando Gueros and Raza Odiada as well. ¡Lanzamiento impresionante, sin embargo! ¡Digno de un buscar avienta de buena música y de metal pesado de la muerte! ¡El Granizo Brujeria!

5.0 out of 5 stars spanish death metal....intresting, April 4, 2002

This review is from: Brujerizmo (Audio CD)
First off I would like to say that if you like death metal and but dont speak spanish dont worry you will still like this cd.I mean sure you dont know what their saying and thats ok because the riffs are very catchy and screaming is very intresting to me because i dont speak spanish and this cd is in total spanish.I have heard every cd they have ever came out with and so far the only thing i have understood are the gunshots at the beginning of thier opening track on their second cd "raza Odiada"(another great cd).All the Brujeria cd's have powerful thought provoking opening track. On this cd the opening song(Brujerizmo)starts off with a little girl singing(very different)but it doesn't stay that way for long and then the singer starts screaming in spanish and before you know you have listen to the whole cd and you want more then you become a brujeria addict and you cant stop listening to it.So check it out!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars An aggressive and palpable assault, October 21, 2005
This review is from: Brujerizmo (Audio CD)
This album is hard as hell. I don't know or even care about the "mystery" that surrounds this band. Brujerizmo is a brutal beat driven attack, full of pounding bass, grinding guitars and savage vocals. Some people say this sounds like Fear Factory, I don't think so. I don't like Fear Factory and I love this album. It's not perfect, there are a few songs that don't flow too well. But luckily there are some absolutely AMAZING songs on here as well. "Vayan Sin Miedo" is my personal favorite. "Marcha De Odio" is also sweet as hell. And "Sida De La Mente" is one of the best album closers of any album I've heard. With it's ominous tone and clever song writing, all out assault on the ear drums, and that hilarious little Mexican guy screaming in synch with the beats. Priceless.

This isn't for everyone, but if you like heavy hitting guitars and beats ala Sepultura, Soulfly, old Coal Chamber and old Korn... you should totally check this out.

5.0 out of 5 stars JUST PLAIN BRUTAL, February 17, 2002
This review is from: Brujerizmo (Audio CD)
BRUJERIZMO is just a brutal,in your face, hard pounding, adrenelin pumping album that will just blow you away. BRUJERIA'S music might just become the soundtrack of hell. There is not whimpy pop music here. The band has 3 bass players that give the songs that heavy sound. No weak spots here. Listen to these tracks which I think you will enjoy CUIDEN A LOS NINOS, ANTI-CASTRO, BRUJERIZMO, DIVISON DEL NORTE and PITITIS TE INVOCO. If you are a fan of the nu-metal scene (Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park) this music might just be to intense for you. For fans of classic thrash/death metal, this is a must have for you. go get it now, you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best so far, August 9, 2001
This review is from: Brujerizmo (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of Brujeria for a few years now, probably since about '98 or so, which was when I was given a copy of Raza Odiada. I listened through and immediately fell in love with the band, and this was before I knew all the details on the band. I learned more about all the members of the band and got Matandos Gueros, which is another amazing album, but it wasn't until I picked up Brujerizmo that I hit the peak of my love for this band, this album is able to clear out Of One Blood by Shadows Fall as the best album of the year 2000. This album is something to NEVER miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars the full assault, June 4, 2001
This review is from: Brujerizmo (Audio CD)
i bought this after seeing that there are members of faith no more, fear factory, napalm death, cradle of filth & dimmu borgir involved. while i don't like cradle of filth or dimmu borgir, i decided to buy it. like said before, after the first 15 seconds this bursts into a full assault of pure energy, compareable to the heavyness and power bands like strapping young lad, coalesce, napalm death, nailbomb or meshuggah put up. i doesn't matter if don't understand one word they sing (or growl... what is more appropriate) this is pure hostility and anger formed to music. also i wouldn't call this death metal, i normally don't care much about the death stuff, this is more melodic, well i would call it thrash with a death growl.

5.0 out of 5 stars Del Putas, March 8, 2001

This review is from: Brujerizmo (Audio CD)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album!, January 30, 2004
This review is from: Brujerizmo (Audio CD)
This is the album when brujeria does some serious music. Previously it was a great noise-making-death-metal band. Now there is melodies and Juan brujo actually carries a melody while he growls so dark and low just like or better than any other death metal band. It's hard to believe that actually this band is composed of artists from other bands. The spanish they use is perfect, and very mexican, with slang, curses and everything. Yeah, nothing better than listening to some good latin metal band that speaks of Satan, Zapatism, drug dealing, crossing the border, killing, and Mexican pride... "Y que viva Mejico cabrones!"
Highlights: Pititis Te Invoco... really catchy tune...
Lowlights: the songs are too short!
