3.5 stars...
Relling gives us a solid and entertaining horror novel about the demonic spirit of an Indian shaman on an island off the coast of California. Called "The Brujo" by early settlers, the shaman was leader of a tribe of indigenous people who worshiped the sun and had a unique bond with the animals on the island. The Brujo died a cruel death after watching his people murdered by pirates and crusaders. When his resting place is disturbed he reaches out to the animals to exact his revenge and purge the island of invaders. Written in the early 80's, this is a fast read and fairly entertaining but it was a little tame by my standards, thus the 3.5 stars |
