This is by far the best nursing textbook I have ever owned. It was worth every penny.

Let me first say I absolutely love this book. I've never seen one so comprehensive -you can NOT beat the amount of GOOD information without useless filler. Each section covers basic review of anatomy along with comprehensive information on procedures, nursing diagnoses, and some drug info. There are great sidebars and pertinent graphics that really help you understand the topic at hand. (Most LWW texts have excellent visual layout, and this one is no exception!) Pretty much EVERYTHING is covered here; If you use only one reference this would be the one. We have 3 different levels of med-surg courses in my nursing school, and all 3 use this as the primary text. I paid a LOT for my copy, but have found the money to be well-spent, because this will remain on my shelves for quite a long time!

Now, I have to address my sole issue, and the reason it isn't getting 5 stars from me: the book is as impractical as can be! It is HUGE and heavy. The sheer size and weight of it may very likely cause you to not utilize it to its fullest potential. Other publishers have taken to separating their med-surg texts into separate volumes for ease of use. Maybe that's not the best idea, but something ought to be done to make this book more student friendly. I have put tabs in my book to mark some of the sections (make it easier to navigate) but it is still a burden to carry. I've heard suggestions that you can take the book to a copy center and have the binding removed and the pages hole-punched so that you only need to carry the pertinent info. Though I haven't seen it done, this may be a useful solution, and LWW would be wise to try and get on the bandwagon by publishing a lighter-weight version!

All in all, though - if you are looking for a comprehensive reference this would be the one! (Just don't expect that you'll be able to carry it all over campus with you!)

This book was very complete, organized well and came with a CD. I am a retired RN and wanted it to stay abreast of the changes in Nursing. I have had a few friends come to me with nursing questions about their care and I don,t want to give them faulty information about their care or suggest something that may have been found not to be helpful or even harmful. This book met that need. Though it was used, it arrived promptly in excellent condition (including the CD, which had never been opened) as the seller described. I was very pleased and would buy thru Amazon often in the future.

I needed an affordable, up to date text book, to review for a nursing agency's general nursing and pharmacology exam. This particular book is a 2004 edition, bought from Amazon, from a seller who was local, and supplied the book in a timely manner as I requested.I found the book very helpful, and a good resource to have in my personal library. The book was delivered brand new, in it's cellophane wrapper, with an accompanying unopened CD.
I would recommend this book to any student nurse or professional like myself whose last edition of Brunner and Suddarth is 40 years old!

book was delivered just in time for classes. It was in great shape.

this book is very good for research puposes: it has a lot of information and rarely anything escapes it. it also has a multitude of graphics and a lot of tables and charts.
it is not that good for teaching though. remember, there are exams and people need to review things very quickly and they need to be able to carry their resources without getting a hernia. i think a pda copy of this book would be very good, and a summerized study guide would be even better.

I needed the book asap, so I ordered speedy shipping. I desperately need the book for school and it's still not here!
