Comment: This book has already been loved by someone else. It MIGHT have some wear and tear on the edges, have some markings in it, or be an ex-library book. Over-all itâ?TMs still a good book at a great price! (if it is supposed to contain a CD or access code, that may be missing)

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Graphic designer Bruno Munari is one of the most inventive picture book creators I know. I have been inspired, entertained, and in awe of his work since I was a graphic design student in Germany more than 50 years ago. And Zoo has been one of my favorites. I am delighted that it is available once again for a new generation of picture book readers of all ages."

There are a lot of animal books out there. There are a lot of zoo books out there. There are very few of said books that do it with this kind of ingenuity. The first time you read the lines "Flamingos know they are strange and beautiful and play at symmetry" to your 3 year old, you know you have stumbled on to a rare gem.

Will they know what symmetry is? Probably not, but you do -- and that is what is so great about this simple book. Everyone gets to enjoy the book, on whatever level they can appreciate it for.

I'm so glad I purchased this book. The art is wonderful and the descriptions of the animals are just a little cheeky. Both my 1.5 year old and my 3 year old love this book. It is requested for storytime often.

After taking our twin 2 1/2 year old grandson's to the zoo, we unsuccessfully look at the zoo gift shop for a book that would highlight animals that we had seen on that visit. Hard to imagine, but there were non. Many of the books dealt with one animal not a cross range. Therefore, returning home, I searched out this book by Bruno Munari. It is excellent and my daughter and the twins are very happy with my choice.

The best part is the line about the zebra's striped pajamas. Really great illustrations.

Chosen for my grandson tho it is not quite for his age.

I have a stack of books which are not board books (those I buy him now) which I pile on one closet shelf in my office. Waiting for him now are The Little House, Make Way for Ducklings, Blueberries for Sal, Curious George, Angus and the Ducks, some of the lovely books illustrated and autographed by my friend Will Hillenbrand, Ferdinand the Bull by Munro Leaf, The Golden Egg, Also don't forget A Child's Garden of Verses byRobert Louis Stevenson, Little Black Sambo, by Helen Bannerman, Bunny Cakes, and the Five Chinese Brothers (one who could stretch and stretch his legs)! Those title should be underscored ...
