5.0 out of 5 stars Great White Gas Backpacking Stove
After getting the stove from Amazon, I tested it outside on my deck. I'd heard good things about this stove, but the bad reviews seem to be about quality control. Unfortunately I ended up with one from the fail pile. The fuel pressurizer was not properly threaded and would not twist onto the fuel tank. Sadly, I had to return it. I purchased the MSR Dragonfly in it's place and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great White Gas Backpacking Stove, July 22, 2009

After getting the stove from Amazon, I tested it outside on my deck. I filled up the canister (included) with Coleman Fuel (commonly referred to as White Gas - search forums all over the internet for more info) and followed the igniting procedure from the manual. Initially I was surprised how big the bright orange flame burned during the priming process, but it slowly subsided and settled into a nice blue flame.

After testing it, I took it on a 3-day backpacking trip in the High Uinta Mountains in UT. I filled the bottle up about 70% and used it for a combined total of 60-70 minutes and still had 30% of the fuel remaining.

It was super easy to light, the included windshield worked great, and it really does simmer.

I like white gas because you can't beat it for camping in the winter or at high altitude and unlike butane and propane, output doesn't falter as temperatures drop.

Overall I am pleased with the purchase, especially with the great price I got on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brunton Bantam Stove Survives Philmont, January 5, 2010

This stove performed well during a two week camping trip at Philmont Scount Ranch in NM. It packs down smaller than a MSR stove, and it is very sturdy. One large can of white gas lasts about a week.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good stove (with Warning), December 21, 2010
This review is from: Brunton Bantam Liquid Fuel Camping Stove (Sports)
This is a good light weight stove. I would recommend to any outdoors-man looking for something light, quick and convenient for any cooking needs while on the trail. Warning the priming process can scare the uninitiated. The first time I used a similar multifuel stove I thought I had done something wrong when the fireball started and ended up flinging flaming white gas around my yard. I was in the Boyscouts then 30yrs ago. Just know that you should flood the area below the priming wick until the wick is saturated then turn off the flow. light the priming wick and once the shaker jets are heated properly the stove will function nicely. Just thought I would let you all know because it can be quite a surprise to those unfamiliar with this time of stove.

The first thing I noticed was the build quality, it's bullet proof. The burner has a built in tripod that is very sturdy and will hold up any pot or pan with confidence. The kit comes with a burner, pressure pump with pressure valve, aluminum fuel bottle, wind screen, and a baggy containing grease, o-rings, etc. All this at a remarkably low price of approx $60 bucks.

There was a previous review that said there was difficulty screwing in the pump to the fuel bottle. All you have to do is push down before screwing down the top, making sure there is no cross threading. Not really a problem.

A great plus with this unit is the pressure adjustment so you can blast the burner or just have it simmer.

It is my opinion that I would prefer this stove over the name brand ones. It comes with everything at a price that's unbeatable.

I received a bottle that was not threaded correctly. After contacting Brunton, they sent me a new canister immediately. I didn't have to send anything back or pay for shipping!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little Stove, April 12, 2011
By
This review is from: Brunton Bantam Liquid Fuel Camping Stove (Sports)
I bought one of these for a three day trip on the Appalachian Trail. After using a Coleman Peak One for years, this was a pleasant surprise. Unit came with the fuel bottle, case, wind screen, and repair kit. I filled the fuel bottle up to the fill line and headed on the trail. We took dehydrated meals that required us to heat 5 cups of water. At 5000 ft this only took about 3 to 4 minutes. Using it a total of 5 times (about 25 minutes), we returned with half of our fuel. The unit is well made and with a repair kit, it should last me and my son many years. It is rare for me to purchase something I am totally pleased with. This is one of them.

This stove replaces a 20 year old coleman. It does have a learning curve how to light it without a big flare up but onece you learn how it is no big deal.
