Developed using color-impregnated composite materials for the body, the ComPro Pocket Transit International compass is a lighter, more affordable option than Brunton's Geo Pocket Transit, but still delivers the same great results. The compass incorporates a cast NdFeB rare-earth magnet that's precisely balanced on a sapphire bearing. The powerful magnet, which resists demagnetization better than other types of magnets, seeks magnetic north remarkably quickly and allows for faster readings. The compass also takes vertical measurements to +/- 90 degrees (or 100-percent grade), with 5-percent grade scale increments. Add in waterproof O-rings and you have an ideal compass for almost any on-the-go application.

Professionals will delight in the ComPro's high degree of precision, with azimuth and vertical accuracy of +/- 1/2 degree (with 1-degree graduations). The accuracy is further improved by the short and long sights and the precision-aligned mirror with convenient "see-through" sighting capability. As a final bonus, the compass offers magnetic declination adjustment when traveling through regions with magnetic variations, allowing for east or west declination settings to 180 degrees.

This is truly a great product. I bought it for my son who is a Geologist for a gold mining co.. He tells me this compass exceeds all his expectations! The best part for me is it was affordable, much less than if I went to the Brunton website.

Heads up! This item comes with it's own carrying case. My fault for not reading close enough and clicking on the 'buys with' button. I ended up paying seperate shipping for a carrying case I didn't need. Then shipping back!

The compass and original carrying case is awesome. Sturdy, beautifully made, and made the perfect gift.

I love being able to use my own model as I've been using my department's old models. The quality of the mirror has gotten much better than it was 20 years ago, and its not done in the quadrant style which I don't particularly care for. I much enjoy being able to make the offset for declination as the school model is stripped. I have also noted that the pin moves much more smoothly than in the model I have been using. The other benefit to getting this compass was that they have the leather pouch for the compass in the case as well, which hadn't been listed as part of the purchase... bonus buy. Well, overall I love my new brunton. :) For the $200, it was totally worth it as I use them frequently for field work.
