Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Epoch Full-Size binocular ushers in a new era of optics. This 7.5x-power Epoch Full-Size is equipped with 43mm objective lenses made of SF prism glass, the highest grade of glass available. Brunton also fitted the lenses in a magnesium alloy frame so durable that it can withstand the most rigorous tests imaginable. Perhaps the most unique development, however, is Brunton's Variable Speed Focus System, which makes all other focus wheels seem inferior. The binocular acquires targets from 30 feet out to infinity with only a minimal turn of the focus wheel, and can adjust to objects a mere 36 inches away for a close-in look. These building blocks, combined with a multitude of other innovations, have taken the Epoch Full-Size to the pinnacle of optical design and engineering. These binoculars are great for everything from hunting to hiking.

Specifications include a locking, 20mm multi-step eye relief system that's eyeglass compatible, a 370-foot field of view at 1,000 yards, and a 5.7mm exit pupil. The list of coatings is nearly as impressive, with state-of-the-art phase coating, a FlatLight full multi-coating, an anti-fog lens coating, and an AL-HR reflective coating all contributing to the crisp resolution.

Additional features include a diopter adjustment mechanism that locks in so your vision is always crisp, a tripod adapter, a comfortable neck strap, and a soft leather case for carrying. The Epoch Full-Size measures 6 by 5 by 2 inches (W x H x D), weighs roughly 26 ounces, and is backed by a Halo lifetime warranty (you drop or break the Full-Size, and Brunton fixes or replaces it).

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb viewing both near and far with remarkable ease!, August 10, 2005

This review is from: Brunton Epoch Full Size Binocular 7.5X43 (Sports)
I've now owned these binocs for several months and been able to compare them with the top of the line Zeiss, Canon, and Nikon glasses I also own. They are simply superb--optically impressive and the most rapidly focusing and easy to aim of all the glasses I've tried. Unlike, the other reviewer (of a higher powered pair) I detected no color aberrations or fringing whatever. The close focusing also makes them very fine for butterfly and insect viewing. Somehow the overall design makes these glasses incredibly easy to handle, to aim and to focus with remarkable ease. For me, they're the best I've ever owned. Since binocular choice is often a matter of individual preference, it may be worth trying several brands before choosing the best "fit" for you(e.g., I think Svarovski's are also very fine).

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb binocular, April 30, 2010

This review is from: Brunton Epoch Full Size Binocular 7.5X43 (Sports)
I have owned these binoculars (technically, "this binocular") for a couple of years. I have used other high-quality binoculars, but this is the finest I have owned. Image quality is superb and ease of use is top-notch. I had the opportunity to compare it to a Swarovski EL side-by-side, and if pressed I would say the EL might be a little sharper, but then again maybe not. They are that close in image quality, and the Swarovski's are over $500 more than the Brunton Epochs. If a $1000+ binocular can ever be called a bargain, these qualify. They are definitely a "best buy" at this level of binoculars.
