Lightweight, nice size. As mentioned the clip isn't spring loaded but no big deal. Another poster incorrectly stated this is a half-fork, half-spoon. That would be a foon which is just ridiculous. This is genuine spork: half-spoon, half-fork.

I bought this spork after shopping around on Amazon and looking at many of the other choices. I finally decided on this particular one due to the relatively high number of positive reviews and the fact that it also includes a bottle opener in the handle. I have not used it yet, nor do I know if I ever will, but that was my reasoning none-the-less. Mostly I just like gadgets, and this definitely qualifies.

Rather than go into great detail (this is a relatively simple item, after all) I'll just list a few pros and cons that I have come up with in the past couple of weeks while I have been using this spork almost daily (eating lunch at work).

Pros:
* Extremely useful - I have used it as both a spoon and a fork and it works great as a spoon, but less so as a fork (more on that below). I noticed very little difference compared to an actual spoon, mainly because it is wide like a soup spoon, rather than long, so the tines don't take too much away from the spoon portion.
* Novelty - One of the main reasons I bought this item is because I have always been fascinated by sporks (they were the highlight of Taco Bell when I was a kid), so I have to admit that the novelty of it is a big part of the appeal. Will it wear off eventually? Probably, but it will still be useful so I'm not really concerned about it.

Cons:
* Made in China and it looks it - poor quality controls throughout. Mine came out of the box with several cosmetic blemishes and casting inconsistencies, none of which detract from the utility of the item, but for a $10 utensil I expected better.
* The Clip is all but worthless - As was mentioned in several other reviews, the clip portion is basically useless, I would not use it to clip the spork anywhere it might be lost if it falls off, as it probably will. I removed the clip and discarded it when I received my spork to remove the temptation of trying to use it.

Both:
* Very Lightweight - The weight is awesome and would be perfect for a camper/backpacker, which is what items like this were designed for, after all. However, as a personal preference, I like beefy utensils that feel indestructible; this item is not one of those. I knew that when I purchased it (titanium, duh) so I can't really count this as a con.
* It's a spoon with fork tendencies - the tines are just long enough to get you by; unless you are planning on trying to eat pasta, salad, or a steak. If you need the tines to grip your food you will be frustrated as the ones on this spork are just not long enough for that. Granted, it can be worked around, but it detracts from the utility of the item slightly. For the foods I eat a Foon (more fork than spoon) would probably be better. A complete set of utensils would undoubtably be the best bet, but where is the fun in that?

Overall I do not regret buying this item and it has performed as expected. It's lightweight, functional, and the novelty of it actually makes it kinda fun to eat lunch in the break room. Three stars for poor quality control and engineering on the spring clip/bottle opener.

I am not worthy. This spork is the perfect object.

Undoubtedly, when the God of Abraham said "thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image," he meant to append ". . . except for the Brunton My-Ti Titanium Spork, of course." (An obvious typographical error).

For, this spork -- THIS spork, and no other -- is surely the Spork of the Gods. This is the spork used by the habitués of Mount Olympus to ladle their ambrosia.

Yea, I say unto thee, o my brothers and sisters, THIS is the spork with which our Lord and Savior ate his Last Supper! Yes! That's the ticket! This is the Holy Spork itself! Placed only inches from the Holy Grail that held his wine, (easily recognizable in the Da Vinci painting).

So, there you have it. Purchase it. Love it. Write poems to it. Compose songs to it. Direct an epic film about it. Build an alter to it. Worship it. Let it be your key into the realm of the gods. Let the Brunton My-Ti Titanium Spork answer all your questions, soothe your existential despair.

Oh, yeah, I forgot: It also opens beer bottles.

This is the second titanium spork I've purchased, the first being REI's Ti Ware Spork. It's pretty hard to mess up the construction of a titanium spork so I'll just cover the bases: The construction is solid and weighs only 0.6 oz. The tips of the spork are just right, not too sharp (hurt yourself) or too soft (food slides off). So as a utensil, it's good to go.

What drew me to THIS titanium spork was the bottle opener. It seems that with titanium sporks your end is usually a can opener, a bottle opener, or nothing (like the REI Ti Ware Spork). The bottle opener works very well and was able to handle the bottles I opened with ease. The carabiner clip looks flimsy, but it's more sturdy than it appears. I thought I'd be able to bend it (with moderate force akin to the forces of a settling backpack) out of alignment easily...and it did. The clip, however, sprung right back into alignment. So as a bottle opener, this spork is good to go as well. The clip could be a little more durable, but I'm not docking a star for it, it's still very sturdy.

I noticed that this is one of the more expensive titanium sporks out there. If the aspect of having a spork/bottle opener doesn't excite you, then I'd move alone. But if you like the idea of a spork/bottle opener combo, then this is a great item for you!

[UPDATE 8/23/2010] Just returned from a trip to the Long Valley Caldera and got to test out this spork. The spork aced the cereal test. I was able to use it as a spoon without the prongs getting in the way. The spork was also able to pick out specific pieces out from a bowl of chili, so the prongs are efficient. It was nice to clip the spork onto my side pack after eating while I was cleaning off my plate. Lastly, the bottle opener worked like a charm. Good feeling when you open a nice brew. Can't recommend this spork enough to all.

[UPDATE 11/18/2010] It looks like Backcountry is no longer selling the item I reviewed. It looks the same, but it no longer has the bottle opener on the bottom. Bummer.... I'd lower my rating, but I can't really speak for this new product. I decided to buy the spork I did, though, because of the bottle opener. Really unique feature that I loved.

I received this as a stocking stuffer this past year. It has many amazing features for a spork. Its a fork and a spoon! What will they think of next?!

With that said its really light and performs as any spork should. If you are looking for a new spork, take this baby for a test feed.

I had looked at several titanium sporks before deciding on the Brunton. Let's look at the good things first. It's light weight, and a great size for getting into the bottom of containers. The fork tines are very sharp and work exceptionally well without being obtrusive in the mouth. The spoon bowl is the right size and well shaped and the polish does make it a bit easier to clean. The small clip/bottle opener is a great idea and what won me over to the Brunton design, I just wish it were better implemented. That brings me to the not so good things. The clip on the end works great as a bottle opener, not so great as a clip. The wire gate is very easily dislodged and you end up with a spork on the ground in one place and the wire gate on the ground in another place, so it's best considered a bottle opener and nothing else. The tines are very sharp, so you need to be careful with this around your clothes and your skin. Pants pocket carry is definitely not recommended.

Really great item with one MAJOR flaw! BAD FOR LEFT HANDERS! My thumb always hits into the the clip and the clip snaps off. Luckily can just put it back on, but still annoying and makes for an awkward hold. Perfect for right-handers, not so much for lefties!!

Pros: Super light, virtually weightless.
Good Price.
Should just about last forever or until you manage to abuse it or lose it.
Hey, it's titanium....that makes it cool. Why else would you really need a TITANIUM SPORK anyway.

Cons: The handle could be a little longer as could the tines(not the best for noodles.
The clip thing is pretty feeble and worthless.
Although I have not tried it, the bottle opener does not seem like it would last(as titanium is a relatively soft metal).

I needed something light weight and durable to keep in my backpack. Conventional plastic forks keep losing their tines so I needed something totally awesome that will survive the crushing depths of my backpack.

I mean... the russians make subs out of titanium!!!

The spork experience has been the stuff of dreams for me. The spoon part is spoony... the fork part.. well.. it's almost as good as a full-length fork, but it still gets the job done.

If you're careful, the bottle opener does the trick.

My daughter grabbed my spork when I first brought it home and used it for several days before I could finally pry it from her hands.

this is the perfect utensil for camping and home. I have 3 of them in my mancave. the only issue so far is the clip for a few people but its fine since i usually throw the clip away since i use the bottle opener alot.
