If you have a typical American coleman type stove which takes a standard propane screw on cylinder like those which are found in most every supermarket, this adapter will not fit that canister. There is another type of fitting,a pierceable type (no screw threads) this will not fit that either. And then there is the Lindal leak-proof valve, this adaptor is designed for and will fit that.

Another way of looking at it: It will fit most (not all) butane cylinders. And most combination butane/propane cylinders (but not all of them!). It will not fit most propane cylinders.

So much for the input fitting.

The output fitting mates with a butane cigarette type lighter poke in fittings such as Ronson brand.

Amazon has cleverly shown a picture which hides the input fitting so that you cannot see it.

Butane works down to about 20 F degrees. Propane down to 0 F degrees but does not throw as much heat as butane, which is why butane cylinders exist.

A common propane screw on fitting is 7/8 inch wide (this won't fit).

A Lindal fitting is about 5/8 inch (will fit).

This devices will screw onto the camping bottles like MSR Isopro, Brunton Bruntane, GigaPower Fuel and others. You invert the bottle, as you would a bottle of butane and fill your cigarette lighter or butane torch. I purchased this adapter because the camping bottles are generally cheaper (and easier to find) than butane bottles.

Sure enough, my butane soldering iron loves the isobutane mix. My Zippo Blu was less forgiving, but the device does what it says.

I took off two stars because the fit was so tight I had to use some pliers to get the adapter on and off the bottles.

Great little tool. Saves a lot of money by being able to buy the bigger gas canisters that are a lot cheaper than the small dedicated ones.

this little Lindal valve adapter works - albeit a little sloppily - and will help you save money.

i use it to refill my Ronson tech torch (handheld) and stove lighter from 250-gram Coleman gas cartridges from the
local box-mart

there is a bit of sloppy backwash of iso-butane/propane mix due to the inefficiency of the butane valve,
but it works and that's all that matters...

so save yourself some money and quit buying those expensive butane refills at the tobacco shop or supermarket...
