Good For Gentile Camping,

This review is from: Brunton Nova Multifuel Expedition Stove with Fuel Bottle (Sports)
Got this stove in the spring of 2006 and used it in the Sierra Nevada before taking it to Peru's Cordillera Blanca. When burning the super-clean, high quality fuels available stateside or in Europe, this stove burns very well. However, in Peru, it would barely work using "bencina blanca" or white gas, the commonly-used fuel there. The higher I went and the colder it got, the more I had to baby the stove to get it to eek out a flame hot enough to cook with. Flare-ups were commonplace and quite sudden. Blame all the problems on the fuel? I don't think so. We also used an MSR XGK with the exact same fuel (we even tried swapping fuels) and it burned flawlessly under the same conditions. I would recommend this stove for use where perfect fuels are available, at elevations lower than 10,000 feet and at temperatures above freezing, because the design is nice, the stove is sturdy and strong and the flame is easy to control and fairly powerful (yet weaker than the XGK) under those conditions. However, when the going gets tough, I'll stick to the XGK from MSR.

I have had this stove for about 2 years and have been very pleased with it. It boils items quickly as well as simmers well. It works so well that sometimes I use it at home when cooking outside. I have not tried using any fuel other than "camp fuel" so I can't comment on the multifuel use. The stove is very strong, lightweight, and is constructed very well. The only downside is it is expensive.
