4.0 out of 5 stars great so far BUT make sure you educate yourself
Please make sure you educate yourself before purchasing the solarroll. My problem was that I didn't realize I would have to buy a car charger for all of my peripherals that I wanted to plug in. Either that or you have to also purchase a brunton solo (which I haven't done yet because of funds). Besides that it charges fine.

2.0 out of 5 stars I'm sure it would be great if I could get it to work
I ordered the Solarroll and my parents brought it to me in Brazil (so no returns).

I didn't realize that in order to power your laptop with this, you need to buy a car charger adapter. This is only specified on the website--the info isn't easy to find. And, not all adapters work. In fact, none of the three that I've tried do anything at all. I can tell the...

I can tell the solarroll is charging something because a little light in the adapter goes on, but there is no charge going into my laptop--even left for hours, nothing trickles in.

So it gets two stars because I'm pretty sure the unit isn't defective. But it loses three because I'm out $300+ and what I paid for three adapters. I feel pretty stupid at this point--so much for my attempt to be environmentally conscious and live slightly less on the grid. I agree with the other reviewer--this needs either a universal adapter, or some better instructions (or any at all) on exactly what type of additional device one needs to buy to make the damn thing work!

4.0 out of 5 stars First Look at the Brunton SolarRoll 14, June 21, 2005
We bring a lot of digital gadgets with us when we go on vacation. All of them need power. Some of them need a LOT of power. Most of the time recharging batteries is as simple as plugging in the charger. However, when you are out in the middle of nowhere, an electric outlet may not be "convenient".

This is when the Brunton SolarRoll 14 really shines. Check out the complete series of reviews at:

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs too much direct light and universal adapter, October 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The folks that made this NEED to make a universal adapter that comes with this. Just giving a cigarette car receptical is idiotic. Also, there is no explanation on how to serially connect these units. The container it came in was too tall, too thin walled and flimsy, and came with a huge stupid hook at the top of it. I ended up having to make my own durable, more fitting container. Not sure it's worth the money unless you are stuck in a garbage dump like Africa where half the time I never had electricity.
