1.0 out of 5 stars Very weak solar USB for the price...look elsewhere!, September 24, 2008

Buyer beware! I know it's silly, but when I spend $100-160 (plus shipping!) for what I think is a solid solar USB charger, I kinda expect it to actually work. As large as this set of solar panels is, it is too weak to charge most iPods and newer cell-phones, even in very direct sunlight. I really did have high hopes for this product, and I really did not expect to leave poor feedback for it. As far as the seller is concerned, the product shipment was slow and was initially sent to the wrong address entirely in another state. I would definitely NOT purchase from this seller again.

I thought I was doing something wrong until I read Mac's review. I could only get it to charge my ipod after sitting outside in direct sunlight for a pretty long time. I only got it to work a couple times.

I picked this up to test it for an extended cycling tour. Set it in direct sunlight in Utah (on the dashboard of my car) and in 5 hours it hasn't come close to charging my Garmin Edge 305 (cycling computer) to even 20%. The Garmin's battery is just a 910mAh battery, so it's even less than a typical smart phone these days.

I would definitely not recommend this, will be returning it and getting something more powerful.
