The KIng of Outdoor stoves, October 9, 2008
Brunton has done it!! A Car camping stove you can actually cook on. This is the highest of quality. Light weight, durable and easy to clean. The cooking grate is Stainless Steel , the Burners are ceramic coated , and it puts off 30,000 BTU's , i can cook meals like i would at home and have the room to do it. you can use 2 10in fry pans at the same time and never have an issue. the utensils store under the included cutting board (another fantastic feature. And when your done the whole thing folds up like a small suitcase. AWESOME stove I used it everyday for 3 months while i lived in my truck last summer touring around the 10 western sates.

Not what I expected from previous reviews, December 1, 2009
This review is from: Brunton Wind River Range Stove (Misc.)
The unit is made very well and looks awesome, although, the unit must have been changed since the previous review in Oct 2008. This review is a year later.
The cooking grate, cooking pan and burners are not stainless. The cooking grate was chrome plated and had a small amount of rust on it when it arrived out of the box. The cooking grate, cooking pan, burners and burner feeds are magnetic. Yes, I know there are some magnetic forms of stainless, however, I don't expect them to arrive with rust already on them, so, I don't expect these to be real stainless. I have an outdoor grill that's been in the weather with no cover for two years and it does not have rust on it.
The label on the Brunton says, made of stainless steel and aluminum. I don't believe it. The burners look spray painted black. I guess it could be ceramic paint.
It's no bigger than a normal camping stove. This was a minus for me. I need a good base camp stove without going to the large cast iron type.
It also does not cook well. The burners are not very adjustable. The knob only adjusts the flame for 1/4 turn. That's 0-15000btu in a 1/4 turn? Needless to say, when you barely touch the knob it either goes to full blast or goes out just like any other cheap camping stove. The burners look just like a $19 stove.
It does look very nice and folds up like a champ. The cutting board is excellent with a great fastening system. The cooking area comes apart real easy for cleaning, although they sacrificed a push button lighting system. If your in a little wind, you will be constantly looking for a lighter. This is compounded by the fact adjusting a low flame is difficult because of the oversensitivity of the adjustment gas valve.
Sorry. $289-300 is way too much for looks alone.
