5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bonsai
Beautifully pruned tree. Picture does not do the plant justice. Care was taken in shipping the item. Shipping was quick. Instructions are included. I will happily order from Brussel's again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful little olive bonsai, June 28, 2006

This review is from: Brussel's Black Olive Indoor Bonsai Tree (Lawn & Patio)
June 28, 2006: Lovely bonsai, extremely well packaged - arrived in perfect condition (beware the oodles of styrofoam pieces left after unpacking! :-)) My olive tree was actually blooming when it arrived last week, and has a nice, delicate fragrance. Pot doesn't come with a saucer, so be sure to put a dish underneath before watering. More compact that the tree pictured (but more typically bonsai shaped), I am quite happy with my purchase. I still prefer to grow, shape and pot my own bonsai, but this little olive (which I can't find in my area other than ordering here) was a nice addition to my bonsai collection. Recommended!

Update 1-23-07:
Little black olive bonsai still looks fantastic. It has had no health problems, and has bloomed several times since purchased(small, pale green flowers, followed by tiny ornamental fruit that falls off shortly thereafter, like an ornamental crabapple). Needs watering every two-three days in summer, every three-four days in winter. Mine sits in a floor-to-ceiling window in a highrise building receiving full sunlight most of the day, and constant air from an air vent above the window. Hasn't grown much (I experienced one burst of new leaves, which promptly died when I left on vacation and it went without water for almost a week). So, I haven't needed to trim it yet. Still recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great little tree, January 7, 2006
This review is from: Brussel's Black Olive Indoor Bonsai Tree (Lawn & Patio)
I had a question and emailed the folks at brussels. My auto signature includes my phone number. I was amazed (and impressed) that I did not get simply a cursory reply but an actual phone call answering my question in detail! This is a lovely specimen, as other reviews have noted, the amazon picture does not do the product justice. Well packaged and quickly shipped A+++

Nice little black olive bonsai with developing nebari It came wired into its glazed pot in fast-draining soil mix. Since was early southwest US summer when it arrived, the tree went outside immediately, in a shady spot. Later on it went into the sun, where is is producing flowers now. So long as it is watered daily, it's a healthy, slow growing little tree. Come fall, it will be brought inside with another black olive as these don't like temperatures below 50 degrees. These trees are so easy to care for and do so well in this climate that I highly recommend them for anybody in the southern part of the USA. Black olives, black pines and a couple of Chinese elms are the only bonsai I have that thrive in the full blast of mid-New Mexico sun.

Again Brussel's did a great job of packaging. Very fast shipping. Mine dosn't have flowers on it yet, but it's pretty to look at. This is the fourth tree I have bought from them, I have not been disappointed yet!! Their trees are very healthy & priced well.

Amazon was exceptionally good about processing the return

1.0 out of 5 stars I'm not sure whats wrong?, May 31, 2011

This is a beautiful tree. Perfect limbs, perfect trunk to height ratio, even had 3 bunches of olives on it, they died within a day, still its a very nice tree. Only problem is that it had lost lots of leaves during transit and continues to lose around 20 leaves every day. I have only had it for about a week or so and it will most likely be dead within the next week or so. Its sad, because it was such a nice little tree.

I received this about the same time I received two other bonsai from Amazon, the other two were very nice, but this one did not look well to start and has gone downhill since.
update 10-30-08
So I had purchased this item and it arrived well pack but struggled for about 4-5 months then all of a sudden there was new growth everywhere, and then little flowers. I was amazed of the fast growth and now there are olives starting to grow. All I can say if yours is struggle, give it time, fertilizer, water and sunlight and it should come back...

I sent this black olive bonsai as a gift to my Dad.
He really enjoys his miniature roses and other container plants. I thought he might like a bonsai as well.

Shipping was extremely fast! The package arrived in only a couple of days and my Dad was thrilled with his new bonsai. He mentioned that it has little thorns, which he really liked.

I would definitely order another bonsai as a gift!
Or maybe one for myself :-)

2.0 out of 5 stars Deceiving advertisement!, September 22, 2006
This review is from: Brussel's Black Olive Indoor Bonsai Tree (Lawn & Patio)
I received the bonsai in 3 days as promised. However, the tree is only about 8 inches tall (not 10 to 14 inches as stated) and the pot is a 6 inch round bowl (not 10 inch rectangular glazed pot as stated). I am very disappointed and will never buy trees from this seller again.
