4.0 out of 5 stars There's a reason why it costs only $35
Amazon delivered the plant in 3 days by Fedex as promissed padded with popcorn, so plant arrived undamaged. However, it only came with the shallow pot - you can see the tree pot is displayed in a bigger tray. And there is a reason why lower tray is needed: first of all, bonsai trees are usually displayed on a bigger tray, and secondly, the lower tay is needed because...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty but short lived
My father is a big plant guy, he has a green thumb so I got this lovely looking little plant for him thinking it's make a good addition to his other plants. Well what they don't tell you about the product is that it needs to be watered everyday. It died on my Dad fairly quickly. It is quite a pretty little plant and I supppose if you don't work and such it'd fair well...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice tree, bad treatment, May 18, 2004

This was not the intro to bonsai I was expecting. I figured this was a better method than having shipped back here when I was in Hawaii having it shipped back here. It does not come with the bottom tray as advertised, and also has outgrown the pot already. It is a good, healthy tree, it just requires a ilttle more maintenance than it should just yet.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Amazon delivered the plant in 3 days by Fedex as promissed padded with popcorn, so plant arrived undamaged. However, it only came with the shallow pot - you can see the tree pot is displayed in a bigger tray. And there is a reason why lower tray is needed: first of all, bonsai trees are usually displayed on a bigger tray, and secondly, the lower tay is needed because onsai trees need daily watering and excess water has to be collcted in the lower tray. Well, the lower tray did no arive. [...]The black rock was assembled very crudely, and so was the prunning of the tree. It also looked like the tree had outgrown the container already. I will have to re-pot it next year.
You may be better off buying bonsai seeds and going through the entire growing and pruning process youselves if you enjoy bonsai as a hobby of watching the plant grow. Because this item will require a lot of work to fix all the deficiencies.
