Japanese Five Needle Pines are extremely difficult for us to obtain. We do not anticipate being able to offer this popular conifer every year. Fortunately, this year's Five Needle Pines have well established root systems and vibrant needles.
Brussels selects all of its bonsai trees with care. They are grown under carefully controlled conditions. Only well-established, healthy trees are shipped.
What Makes a Great Bonsai
There are certain characteristics that all high quality Bonsai posses. Generally speaking, great Bonsai have a larger trunk base with a balanced root spread. The large root base of a Bonsai should be complemented by an even trunk taper throughout the tree. On most trees, gentle trunk movement is important. Larger and longer branches should appear on the bottom of the tree. They should reduce in length and size as they continue up the trunk of the tree. Wiring is used to position branches in the desired location. Regular pruning will produce smaller branches. All these qualities work together to create the illusion of a large tree in a natural setting.
