Love it!!, September 11, 2002

I'm going to have to disagree with a previous reviewer who said that it wasn't clear that this was a beginners workout. It only says it on the cover - hello?! I love this video. I'm just learning Power Yoga, and always felt that the Power Yoga tapes that I have tried previously went too fast. (And, yes, I understand that this is a faster paced yoga practice - but you've got to have a place to start) With the other tapes that I have I would just be getting into a pose, and the class would already be moving on. With this tape, although it's short, I feel like I get some real experience with "flow" yoga, and that moving on to the next level won't be so daunting. The length of the tape is closer to 30 minutes (I think it comes in at about 26 minutes), and I never feel like things are rushed, and neither do I think that it moves too slowly. It's a great starting point if you're just beginning or if you're more experienced but want something a little less strenuous and of a shorter length.

Great and Short, October 17, 2006
This review is from: Bryan Kest - Power Yoga 20 Minute Workout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If I could choose only one yoga instructor it would be Bryan Kest. In this video he leads us in a short but very effective flow that makes you feel great.
It's tough --- even if you're not a beginner. But there are only about four or five basic poses in a lovely vinyasa. Your lower body especially gets a workout as do your abs.
The actual workout lasts about 24 minutes including about 10 minutes of warm ups, which are quite strenuous in themselves.
You have lots of time at the end for resting to quiet music.
The only thing that annoys me is that I have to fast forward the video quite a bit to get to the real workout. There's lots of talk and instruction in the beginning. It's fine to watch that once. After that you just want to get to the workouts.
For those of you concerned about burning calories, this workout burns up to 210 calories depending on how much energy you personally exert and whether or not you use the vinyasa as designed.
If you want a short but effective workout, this is a good one.

Usually LOVE Bryan Kest's videos, but not this one!, September 3, 2002

I have Bryan's Sweat and Tone Videos and I love them. I bought this one for those days when I didn't have enough time to do his other videos. It doesn't mention in the title or the description that this is 20 minute Power Yoga for BEGINNERS. It says it on the box if you look closely at the picture of the cover. I was looking for more of an intermediate to advanced tape. I did try it, however I was disappointed. Bryan talks way too much, way too fast, as if he's trying to hurry everything up so that we can be done in 20 minutes. Not the "calmness in sensation" that I usually get with Bryan's videos. If you really like his style in his Tone and Sweat series, I don't think this one is really for you. I highly recommend his other tapes.
