Gr 2-3--Attractive covers and large-print type should draw young readers to these titles. The information will be interesting to those who are not familiar with either park. Vocabulary is appropriate for the subjects, but there is no indication in the texts as to which words appear in the brief glossaries. Many of the color photos in Death Valley are rather dark while several in Bryce Canyon lack reference points to help define size. Captions on most of the photos merely duplicate what has already been stated. Both titles conclude with a brief list of resources that includes books, organizations, and on-line sites.
