Book Description

January 1980
At Bryce Canyon, differential erosion and weathering, and seeping groundwater have sculpted windows, arches, and other architectural oddities from the Claron formation. These features add visual excitement to the many scenic canyons that drain the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau.

Bryce Canyon National Park, in southern Utah, was first set aside as a national monument in 1923 to preserve an amphitheater of colorful pinnacles, spires, and walls, all carved by erosive weathering.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bryce Canyon.. The Story, October 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Despite having such a basic cover this is a pretty good read. I have 5 books on Bryce as I'm doing a project on it and this book has the best pictures it also has the best and simplest geological description. It's particularly clear in describing why the seasons are different, useful for planning a visit. Frommers book on Bryce and Zion seems to be the best tourist guide I've seen so far, nice pocket size too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Photos of Bryce, May 13, 2007

After having visited Bryce Canyon, even though our photos were wonderful, this book shows images of Bryce that a regular camera cannot capture. It also gave a detailed geographical explanation of Bryce Canyon and a historical background that enhanced your understanding of this geographical wonder. A great keepsake.
