I have a 3, 5 and 9 year old and was looking for a children's travel book for our recent family trip to New York. All I could find was the typical travel book written for adults with a section on family things to do and sights to see, but nothing that was written for and geared towards children themselves. That is until I discovered Bubba! Bubba Goes to New York is, apparently, the first in a series of "travel" books geared towards young children. In this book you follow the adventures of the sweet, smart and endearing beagle named Bubba on his adventures to New York where he visits major sights, meets famous people, and reflects on their significance in a cute and fun way that children can understand and relate to. From the Statue of Liberty to Madison Square Garden to the site of the World Trade Center and to riding the subway, Bubba learns about and explores the major places that make up the essence and history of the city (he even takes a helicopter ride to see how tall the buildings really are!) The drawings are simple yet expressionate, clear and eye-catching. The number of words per page, and length of the book is succinct enough to hold the attention of my 3 year old yet interesting and detailed enough to spark the imagination and curiosity of my older kids. Every time we read the book together my children want to know more details and facts of the places Bubba visits which has sparked many conversations, not only before our trip but especially after we got back from NY. My kids want to know where Bubba is going next so we can go there, too!!! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to explore a new city with their children whether they are planning on visiting there or just want to learn about it from a perspective that children can relate to.

This is a fabulous book for kids. It shows the world through the eyes of a dog..a sweet beagle called Bubba! My 3 kids loved it and asked if there were any other Bubba books...like Bubba goes to Paris or Bubba goes to San Francisco! They want more Bubba books!

Getting children to read this Bubba book is a dream! They were so enamoured with Bubba and engaged in his trip, they are eager to read more (hopefully soon!). The way that this book is written teaches a broad range of activities, while holding the sometimes fleeting attention of its audience.
