I just bought the BKCG, which is now called the Big Steel Keg. I have seared a steak at 600+ degrees, and smoked a Boston Butt for 14 hours at 225 degrees. A friend referred to the Smoked butt as "meat candy". This grill produces excellent results. I only had to refuel 1 time for the 14 hour smoke, and I probably used about a total of 3 pounds of charcoal. I built a table for it, but the stand and side tables it comes with are nice, and big enough to hold most of the items you need. It produces very little ash, since it is so efficient. I bought the plate setter for the large BGE, and it fits perfectly, allowing for indirect cooking.

I do not have any complaints whatsoever. I am very glad I bought this over the BGE, so I can take it tailgating. From the direct comparisons of people who own both, this grill actually beat the BGE in 60% of the categories. Don't get me wrong, the BGE is very nice, but $650 for grill, tables and stand compared to $700 for BGE, and $200 for tables/stand, so total of $900 is a big difference for a product that cooks nearly the same, and in some ways, is better. On top of that, you can put it on your trailer hitch, and it won't crack if it falls over somehow.

I admit that the BGE has more accessories, but since the accessories for the Large BGE fit the BSK perfectly, it is like having the same options.

I would highly recommend this grill to anyone who wants a charcoal grill that can sear a steak, or smoke for long periods of time. I was originally looking at either a Weber Genesis EP310, or a Weber Sumitt 400, but neither was that good for smoking, and the Sumitt cost a lot more than the BSK.

If you want an easy, well made, gas grill that cooks evenly, then look at the webers, or comparable grills.

I was really looking for a gas BBQ because of the climate of where I live. I wanted something that would start fast and be a easy to use. I had a coal BBQ but hated how long it took to start and get hot. I sw the Bubba Keg and did some research. After finding the BBKG forum, I decided to buy it. Best investment ever. Not only does it start fast, but it also get super hot. I have seared steaks at 750F and done pizza on a stone at 500F. Where this BBQ really shines is in maintaining its temperature. For ThanksGiving I did a 16lb turkey at 250F for 6hours, and the temp never fluxed. I also did a 10hour pulled pork that held at 200F. The setting on this thing allow you (with a little practice) to get to a temp and have it hold for hours. The best part, its so efficient, that I normally have a lot of coal left over at the end. By the way, it recommends that you use Lump Coal, which is cheaper and burns hotter with less ash, so win-win. I wish I would have waited for the new lower price. But even at the original price it was a bargain."

This grill and smoker is as good if not better than the Big Green Egg! But the price tag is almost half of the Egg.The Bubba Keg Grill will pay for itself because it does not use very much charcoal at all.It is so efficient that it only takes 2 or 3 handfulls of charcoal to cook on and you can reuse and relight was is left over. You will love this grill/smoker once you learn how to cook on it. It is so amazing at what it can do because it is very well insulated and it comes with eveything you need to use it not like the Ceramic grills in which you have to buy all of the accessories for a total price of about $1200.00. The Bubba Grill/Smoker price tag is only $599.00 plus tax. This is a steal!

Great grill! I have used water smokers, gas grills of all types and off-set smokers and this by far is the best cooker I've ever used. I found it when reasearching a new smoker looking at Big Green Eggs, Grill Dome, etc. I've since bought one for my father as well. You can do anything from slow-and-low to 800 degree steak cooks with very little charcoal.
