5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for New Couples!
Rick and Bubba's perspective on marriage is so realistic! I love the comical, almost sarcastic approach to their writing and the way they're not afraid to tell the truth on any subject - regardless of what their wives may say. My fiance and I are both reading this new edition of Rick and Bubba writing which lends plenty of good advice to new couples. We've already...

3.0 out of 5 stars Newbie to Rick and Bubba
First of all, I am not a follower of Rick and Bubba. I am, however, a fan of marriage. There were numerous times while reading the book that I stopped and shared stories with my husband, mainly because they were comical in nature. It is not one of those books that I can foresee someone recommending in a premarital counseling session, nor would I personally suggest it...

We've already shared several laughs about the topics we're reading that you can't help but admit are SO TRUE. Thanks for another special message from these two guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, thoughtful observations on marriage and relationships, June 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The self-proclaimed "two sexiest fat men alive" are back with a new book that takes on one of the oldest institutions--marriage. After tackling life, politics and secret codes, marriage should be simple, right?

In a honest, funny and heart-felt well, Rick Burgess and Bill "Bubba" Bussey offer their own insights in relationships and marriage. The book is fair to both sexes, offering the foibles that both sides commit and how to work together to overcome them. As always, the strong faith of Burgess and Bussey comes through time and again, encouraging readers to keep the focus where it should be in not only marriage, but also in all of life.

And while the book is good, it's made even better by the included "Best of" CD. The CD does offer some duplication in stories told from the book, but hearing them told on the radio by this funny duo is a real treat. If you're a fan of Rick and Bubba, this book is a must have. If you're not, why not give it a try. You might just discover why these two guys are so loved by their fans. They're funny, witty, honest and real.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book set me free!!!, June 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My wife was holding me hostage in a closet in a back room of the house. I begged her to buy this book and read it before doing whatever it was she was going to do. Thankfully, she obliged. She said she'd set me free if I read it. Obviously, I agreed (of course, I wanted to read it since these are, without doubt, the best marriage counselors around). I read it. We both realized the failures we have had due to this book. She set me free and we now have the Almost Nearly Perfect Marriage.

Thank you, Rick and Bubba, for setting me free!!!

God bless.

3.0 out of 5 stars Newbie to Rick and Bubba, July 13, 2009
First of all, I am not a follower of Rick and Bubba. I am, however, a fan of marriage. There were numerous times while reading the book that I stopped and shared stories with my husband, mainly because they were comical in nature. It is not one of those books that I can foresee someone recommending in a premarital counseling session, nor would I personally suggest it to any friends experiencing marital problems. I would recommend the book to anyone who loves a good laugh.

One of the highlights in Rick and Bubba's Guide to the Almost Nearly Perfect Marriage is the chapter "Ball and Chain?" where Rick and Bubba declare that being married is the opposite of being tied down. It is in fact freedom. It is quite a beautiful understanding and description of the freedom that comes from trusting your spouse and the love that can grow between the two of you.

One part of the book that I could have done without is "The Book of Blame." Unfortunately, one of the underlying themes of the entire book is that wives can and do blame their husbands for everything. To some degree the wives of Rick and Bubba are portrayed as sexy nags and the inclusion of "The Book of Blame" drives that theme home.

Overall, I would think that fans of Rick and Bubba will love this book (and CD of their show highlights) and insight into their marriages. For those of us not familiar with them, it's an easy read with a couple of great laughs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny........., June 3, 2009
Rick and Bubba's Guide to the Almost Nearly Perfect Marriage is a departure for me in my reading fare. Since I live in NC I have to listen to Rick and Bubba on the Internet and I have to tell you not having their show available on NC radio stations is our loss.

Guide is highly entertaining with loads of advice on how to interact with your mate. As a male I took it to heart. Don't let the humor cheapen the importance of what you'll read. This is a handbook for enjoying your mate without ruining the experience.

Well done Rick and Bubba.

North Carolina listeners could really benefit from your show.
