Soul Pop, April 29, 2009
This review is from: Bubble Gum Classics 4 (Audio CD)
Bubblegum Classics, Volume 4: Soulful Pop is fifty-one minutes and sixteen seconds and was released on February, 10, 1998. Bubblegum Classics, Volume 4: Soulful Pop has the fewest songs on the CD; with only seventeen songs. Volume five CD does one better. Eleven on the seventeen songs charted and none of the charted songs hit #1. Granted I enjoyed the CD, but it did not sound like bubblegum music, soul or no soul. Only one or two songs barely come close to a bubblegum. Volume 4 could have been left out on this set. Bubblegum Classics, Volume 4: Soulful Pop gets a B-.

I can't let you go., May 11, 2006
This review is from: Bubble Gum Classics 4 (Audio CD)
This volume of the Bubblegum Classics series focuses on "Soulful Pop". That is to say, soul-influenced pop music, or pop-influenced soul music. Most of the songs on the CD are quite enjoyable. About half the songs here were hits in the US, with slightly more than that being hits in the UK (probably because many of these songs are performed by British singers). But even the songs here that are unfamiliar to Americans are very enjoyable. This isn't really "bubblegum music", but it's still fun to listen to.
