4.0 out of 5 stars very good!!, July 19, 2004

great dance music!! it's all here if you like female vocals!! very hard to find music of this caliber in the christian market. let's call it electro pop. Other groups to consider are Echoing Green and Code of Ethics. Shout from DBA is slightly better than this one however.

4.0 out of 5 stars I've had this for 15 years and still love it, January 15, 2012

This review is from: Bubble (Audio CD)
This was my first dba album and remains my favorite. I got it soon after it came out in the mid-90s and still enjoy listening to it. After enjoying it for many years, in 2008 I decided to get their earlier albums (they were called 65dba before this album), so I bought "The Great Awakening" and "Shout." "The Great Awakening" is nothing at all like the sound on their later albums; "Shout" is the bridge between their debut and this one, though more like this one. I do not have the same opinion of the reviewer who prefers "Shout" to this album -- I think "Bubble" is MUCH better!

The sound on this album is very electronic, and it has a danceable feel to it but the song structures and mix are that of the pop dance realm rather than straight-out dance music. Still, there is enough beat in the mix to dance to most of the songs. And the feel is definitely more dance oriented than their previous album. Also, the sound is more European. Since I am a fan of Eurodisco and the pop music that derives from it, the music on this album suits me perfectly. A couple of the tunes may be a little too...hmm, shall I say
"cheerful"?...for American tastes, but there are a just a couple of those.

While the first 8 songs are pop song structures, the 9th and last song before the remixes is 100% dance music in structure and danceable beat. It is an absolutely amazing song that I never, ever get tired of. It's called "3-d," which reflects the 3 time dimensions of God -- the one who was, and is, and is to come. This is one of my favorite songs of all time to dance and worship to. Shaz Sparks sings "Holy, holy, holy" while an ethereal vocal line goes on in the background. It clocks in at 7:38 and as far as I'm concerned could easily be quite a bit longer. dba re-did the song in 2000, but I have yet to be able to find a way to purchase that record. If anyone knows where I can get a copy, please tell me!

Two of the songs are remixed for the bonus tracks. The final track, a remix of "Universe," is an incredibly high energy dance mix. I have put this song as the finale on a high energy dance mix CD I made...a great climax to an intense time of dancing.

I like all of the original 9 songs on the album, plus the 2nd remix. The only track I don't like is the first remix, which is too housey for me. I like the sound, the songs, the performance. It's an album that I still enjoy immensely, even after 15 years.

(Trivia note: Shaz Sparks, the female vocalist on this album, is a guest vocalist on Andy Hunter's 2008 album "Colour.")
