5.0 out of 5 stars Learn to be a bubbleologist!

This science kit is literally "bursting with fun!" 1.0 out of 5 stars the book that never came
I am not able to rate this product because it never arrived. If i could give it no stars I would! However, I have to say that I received an e-mail shortly after I placed my order letting me know that this product was no longer available. I have no fault with the company at all. It was just one of those things!

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn to be a bubbleologist!, February 15, 2005
This review is from: Bubbleology: A Hands-On Science Kit (Paperback)

This science kit is literally "bursting with fun!" Not only is it filled with clear, concise instructions for over 30 experiments and bubble tricks, it also includes all the supplies necessary to complete them. While playing with bubbles is certainly fun, it also allows children to practice hands-on, inquiry-based science. As a middle school science teacher, I've used the activities in this kit to enhance my chemistry unit. And as a parent, I know that playing with bubbles is good clean fun.

"Bubbleology" explains the science behind the bubbles in solids (e.g. bubble gum), liquids (water) and gases (air). A series of experiments demonstrating the scientific concepts of buoyancy, water pressure and surface tension are included along with explanations of how soap bubbles form and why they pop. After experimenting to prove that floating soap bubbles are always round, supplies are provided to make three-dimensional frames that hold bubbles in the form of a square, tetrahedron and other geometric shapes. There's even information and activities about bubbles used for safety (air bags, fire extinguishers) and protection (bubble wrap).

Co-author Casey Carle, a professional bubbleologist, includes the recipe for his secret bubble formula and instructions for creating some amazing bubble tricks. As with the experiments, each bubble trick is clearly explained and illustrated. The bubble tricks are even rated from one bubble (easy) to three bubbles (difficult), so that kids can feel successful from the start. There's also a section on bubble artistry, where you learn to paint with bubbles and make bubble sculptures.

"Bubbleology" is the perfect resource for practicing both the science and art of bubble making.
