Quality: I was very impressed with the apparent quality of this gun. I would expect this to have a very long life (unlike a lot of toys these days).

Here's the main issue: It's a single shot gun, i.e. one cap then reload. First thing that might be noted, is that this may actually increase its "educational value" as real pistols are single shot guns. Personally, I like the single shot nature because it slows down cap consumption. However, it is the only draw-back IF you have younger kids. If they cannot reload it themselves, then be prepared for your kids to ask for help every 30 seconds. At the party, the 7 y/o was able to reload it himself, but the 5 and 4 y/o were not. I recommend this for 6 y/o+ unless you are willing to do the reloading. So, 4-stars, 3-stars for younger kids, 5-stars for older kids.
(Also beware of the fact that the single caps may end up on the floor for younger kids/animals to eat unless you get the gun using kids to make sure they keep control of the spent caps and throw them out).

The caps are not too loud, but loud enough. They also cause a safe spark most of the time, and a little smoke, which the kids found very exciting.
