My mom made our stockings and I wanted to make stockings for my boys. I love crafts but had no experience with this kind of sewing. Even without experience this was enjoyable and turned out great. Just takes a lot of time!

This was my second try at sewing a stocking, and it went like clockwork. I was initially overwhelmed by all the small pieces, but it actually wasn't that bad. The instructions were clear, conscice and easy to follow. I did run out of white floss, but it was easy enough to get extra to finish it off. These stockings look beautiful when complete - I can't wait to decorate for the holidays.
A few tips to make your life easier: -Use a compartment container and seperate your sequins, beads, and floss into the various compartments. -Buy a bag of poly fill before you start. -Use straight pins to pin the pieces as you sew them - it makes it a lot easier to match things up and stay on course. -Buy a needle threader - it makes threading multiple strings of floss much easier. These needles are flimsy - I actually broke one by pulling too hard on the floss.

Beautiful but very time consuming,

My daughter ordered this for my grandson's first Christmas at Thanksgiving. It took at least 100 hours to complete following the directions precisely, there were times I was seeing double!!
SUGGESTIONS: 1. Highlight each item on the directions as it is completed making it easy to keep my place. 2. I ran out of white thread, broke two needle threaders, and had to buy a very small pair of scissors along with a huge bag of stuffing which I used very little of. Be sure not to over stuff. 3. I did not think the directions on how to do various stitches was concise enough so i googled stitches and watched videos on how to do. 4. Two needles came with the kit but only one could be used for attaching the beads-I was viligant about keeping up with those needles and stored them in their very own pin cushion. 5.The paper plate recommendation worked great but be sure your plates have a raised edge. I did not put in small containers because accessing the sequin and the bead was much easier on the plate and i also keep the same color threads on the plates which could be stacked. 6.I choose to line it with some Christmas patterned flannel so stocking stuffers would not get caught in the threads. 7.Instead of trying to outline name tag I brought some felt alphabet letters in red and sewed them on.
