FinestKind,

This review is from: Buck 305 Lancer Folding Pocket Knife (Sports)
I have been carrying this knife in my pocket daily for over 20 yrs. So small you don't even notice it, yet up to almost any daily cutting job - I prefer the smaller version to the slightly larger model, which my brother in law carries. I now own 2 - I thought my first one was lost, until I noticed my stepmother at our summer cabin had 1 identical to the one I thought was lost. I asked where she got it, and she said it was on the table so she put it in her purse! So after 3 yrs. it came back to me ! Of course, I had immediately ordered a replacement when it disappeared - it's that good ...Don't expect to sharpen it using a electric sharpener designed for kitchen knives - it's too small. Instead invest in a good whetstone - mine has 2 stones - 1 hard, and 1 softer for rough work. Once it's sharp ( and it comes sharp ! ) the blade will hold the edge for a long time - once or twice a year sharpening is fine if all you do is open boxes, and light duty. I carry a separate mini multi-tool on my key chain for a bottle opener, and screwdriver, but I never use the knife - always the Buck for cutting. As long as you don't lose it, this knife will last a lifetime, and it's so small you'll always have it on you.

SMALL IN STATURE, LANCER IS STILL A BUCK!,
By D. McAllister "MRD" (Somewhere in the Field) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Buck 305 Lancer Folding Pocket Knife (Sports)
Buck Knives are legendary for holding an edge and for being the best knives that money can buy. Period! And no family of Buck Knives exemplifies these attributes more than the 300 Series. Tough. No nonsense. Practical. Top to bottom!Enter the smallest member of the family, the Lancer. I admit, I was skeptical about this one. Bigger brothers, the Stockman and the Cadet, have size on their side. What happens when thinner, smaller blades are brought to the table? I've seen knives of this size (admittedly, from other knife makers than Buck) literally bend under the pressure of serious knife use. Not so, though, with Lancer. Every bit as tough as the larger members of the Buck family and I've used my Lancer in spots when I probably should have chosen a bigger, longer knife. No complaints here. Lancer is every bit a Buck and can be used as such. THE HORSEMAN

The Buck Lancer is the perfect penknife to keep in your pocket at all times. Its light weight & small size seems to make it disappear until required. The Quintessential Gentleman's Pocket Knife
