Product Description

To ensure maximum strength in our Bravo TM Blades, we utilize the unique BESH Wedge TM technology. Developed by Brent Beshara, it provides a triple-edge point design to produce superior tip strength, as well as full-length blade strength. To put it bluntly, these blades are 85% stronger than standard steel blades. By providing the same thickness throughout the length of the blade, BESH Wedge TM technology creates a more rigid, rugged and reliable blade for prying, wedging, and puncturing, in addition to the toughest cutting challenges.

I've owned a number of pocket knives but never any that cost for than $20-30. I always figured, "why pay more for plain old steel?" Well upon arrival this knife completely changed my mind.

For starters the two knives I was using prior were the Gerber Parafram II, and the Colt AR-15-K. The Gerber was a decent knife, all steel, lightweight, ok blade. The Colt was (now in retrospect) an awful knife with numerouse design flaws.

The Fit and Finish on the Bravo is top notch. I've heard some people complaining on forums, but I'm at a loss. The knife I received is seamless and slides cleanly from the handle, locks securly, unlocks and slides cleanly back into place. This is a stark contrast from the Paraframe II which was incredibly stiff for the first 100-200 openings. So stiff in fact that you could not open it with one hand. The Colt meanwhile was openable with one hand but had a definate rough spot in the middle where the metal rubbed. None of this on the Bravo however, it's smooth as butter start to finish.

Another nice thing is the Bravo is Intelligently designed. Upside-down clip, various ridges for grip. The casing itself has fantastic grip as well. The liner-locking mechanism is also preferable compared to a back lock (Colt was a back lock, when you unlocked it swung down and clipped your fingers... no good). Some people have concerns witht he durability of a liner lock, but the mechanism seems to be plenty durable on the Bravo.

The blade was sharp out of the box, but could probably be sharpened a bit. The angle is unique and I like it, but I am skeptical if the Besh Wedge blade offers any real improvements (although some swear by it). It does add a lot of weight to the knife however.

Just received my newest Buck knife today....I ordered it Monday and received it Thursday afternoon.

A few of the reasons that led me to purchasing this knife are the exact reasons that I love it. My main concern about a knife, since I carry one daily with me, is that it must have a pocket clip with point up. Meaning when the knife is folded the blade points up when I have it in my pocket.

Ideal uses for this knife
-Cutting/Stabbing/Prying
-Around the Home/Shop
-Hunting/Camping/Fishing
-Survival
-Combat

Pros
-Solid knife with a great edge on the blade
-Excellent handle, my first knife with the G10 handle and it is now the first of many
-Opens easily with the thumb stud
-Heavy knife, I prefer a heavy knife and this is definitely one
-Great blade style for virtually almost any task
-The Buck "Forever Warranty" that comes with any knife

Cons
-Pocket clip makes the knife ride high in your pocket (which is the main reason I rated this 4 out of 5)
-Will be almost impossible to sharpen due to the Besh blade style when it comes to that time

Now for those that read this review...I'm not saying this is the best knife out there. But if you're like me and look for the best bang for your buck...this blade is more than worthwhile. I only purchase American made knives, such as Benchmade, Buck, Cold Steel. I'm comparing this knife only against itself and not to other knives I own as each knife was purchased for different reasons.

So, if you're looking for a knife that is a solid and well built that can take some abuse. This is a good route to go. A knife that will accomplish any task around the house, shop or while hunting and camping, pick up this knife.

This knife has a strange looking blade but its design is made to withstand a lot of abuse and the 154cm steel used for the blade holds a sharp edge. The blade flips out easily with the dual thumb studs( good for right or left handed use). The butt end of the knife has the thick liners extended with a hole in each one for adding a cord and could be used as a glass breaker in an emergency. This is a heavy duty folder and has some weight to it so is best carried in a belt sheath which is not included. I recommend the combo blade 850, it makes the knife more useful than just the plain edge 850. Great USA made product by Buck and reasonably priced for such a quality knife. Excellent combat knife for a U.S. soldier deploying overseas.
