Book Description

Cowboys April 1999
Hannah was lovely enough to make any man forget the past--any man except Buck Hogan. For thought she had more than fulfilled the promise of beauty in the 14-year-old girl he'd once known, Buck would always remember that back then he had been her father's whipping boy. Helpless no longer, he would have his revenge by taking the old man's ranch. The only thing he hadn't counted on was falling in love with Hannah. .

Review

Buck Hobson has returned to the Grossek ranch with one goal in mind- to get revenge for what had happened to him there six years ago. Nathaniel Grossek may be dead but that hasn't stopped Buck from hating him for the abuse he endured. He intends to own the ranch where he was once a slave and no one, including Grossek's daughter, is going to stand in his way. Since her father's death, Hannah and her mother have had to fend for themselves. Their ranch won't survive without help but they can't afford to hire anyone. Hannah is determined not to give up, either by selling the ranch or getting married. When Buck arrives with an offer of shared ownership their only hope is to accept. But Hannah can't understand Buck's hatred of her or the exciting, frightening new feelings she has for him. Buck is the third book in The Cowboys series from the talented Leigh Greenwood. Buck is one of Jake and Isabelle Maxwell's many orphans (and the Maxwell clan makes a welcome appearance during the course of the story). He is a man without a family or a home- or so he thinks. He meets his match in Hannah, a young woman determined not to be dependent on any man because she believes all men are like her cruel father. Together Buck and Hannah find their way in their discovery of love and the true meaning of belonging. Leigh Greenwood charms readers once again! A heartwarming tale! Buck continues The Cowboys series in proper fashion with all the excitement and romance readers have come to expect from Leigh Greenwood! A rip-roaring good time! Leigh Greenwood pens the finest stories in romance fiction! Kristina Wright -- Copyright © 1998 Literary Times, Inc. 4.0 out of 5 stars Breezy read, December 1, 2008
This review is from: Buck (Cowboys) (Mass Market Paperback)
A good story but somehow lacking emotion--which is odd considering there were some quite emotional scenes. It's hard to explain. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I tore through the book, trying to finish it more quickly than it deserved. One particular scene did bring tears to my eyes and the end was beautiful, but I still feel almost as if I didn't actually read it. The heroine, Hannah, was someone I could relate to and for once, her personality seemed consistent. Buck was someone fighting the typical results of a lifetime of physical abuse and from what I noticed, Greenwood did his research rather well on that score. Overall, it was worth the read.

This story contains graphic love scenes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read!, February 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buck (The Cowboys) (Paperback)
Mr. Greenwood has once again written a book with characters so real I feel as if they're part of my family. His characterization is tops in the romance genre, (which means it's tops anywhere.) The tenderness, love, adventure, and dignity of his characters lasts - Jake has its own place on my Keeper Shelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greenwood's most emotionally satisfying novel!, July 4, 1998
This review is from: Buck (The Cowboys) (Paperback)
As an avid book reader, I find few surprises in plots. After reading Greenwood's "Seven brides" series about the very sexy Maxwell brothers, I expected more of the same with the ophans of the "Cowboys". What I didn't expect was the realistic problems of a group of men bound not by blood, but by a love that none feels worthy of nor can quite believe. A love of a "family" that is perhaps stronger because it is not owed but given. I give it 5 stars because I cried. The good cry, the kind that makes you smile and laugh. And remember...
