I have just ordered what will be my third Buck 301. This will be my third, not because I wore the last two out, but because the others served me so well and were lost to unfortunate circumstances. The first stockman I owned was given to me by my father. It was a knife which he bought during the early 1970s at a military duty free store. That knife served me well for a few years before I left it at a friends house for an extended period and he lost it. The second was a replacement purchased for me by said friend who felt bad about losing my first. That knife went with me everywhere for another few years until, on a rather sentimental drinking binge, I gave it to my girlfriends brother. Too proud to ask him to return it to me when I sobered up, I ordered another the very next day. I love this knife.

I should let it be known that I am not a collector. I do not have hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of steel sitting in a glass case...I am merely a long time user of this product, and a person who really loves well made, simple, objects: zippo lighters, moleskine notebooks, and the Buck 301 Stockman.

Of all of the folding "pocketknives" offered by Buck, the STOCKMAN, 301, sets a standard that all other manufacturers unsuccessfully scramble to duplicate. Like its cousin, the FOLDING HUNTER, this knife, with its combination of three blades (clip, sheepsfoot and spey) is often copied but never duplicated, either in workmanship or quality.

Some may feel that the STOCKMAN is too big. I've never had any trouble fitting it in my pocket but not to worry. Buck's Series 300 folding pocketknives include a variety of sizes to meet virtually every need.

Finally, like every Buck knife, the STOCKMAN, owing to its lifetime warranty, is the last knife of its kind that you will buy. If the knife is damaged during normal use, simply send it back to Buck and it will be replaced--no questions asked.

THE HORSEMAN

Beautiful knife and very sharp. I think fit and finish are lacking just a little bit but....I tend to be kinda picky.

I have been a knife collector since I was a kid, I have over 100 knives and this folding knife is my favourite and one of three I use permanently.

It is an outstanding product not only from the design point of view (old time)but its cut capacity.

Congratulations BUCK:

Leon Duque.

After carrying a USA made Old Timer Stockman knife for about thirty five years I was looking for an American made replacement, This Buck 301 Stockman fills the bill, the price is right and it arrived a day earlier than expected, it was sharp out of the box and according to my Father-in-law just may be too nice to carry, I am proud to have a quality USA made knife like this one in my pocket.

Just may have to order another to give to Father-in-law, I would in fact order another without question.

I purchased this paticular knife for one reason, it's a Buck and it's made in the USA. I have already own the same version of this knife that was made in China, and even though that knife was made in China I still was amazed at the quality. I have carried that paticular knife for years, and actually still do, until today. I love this knife for when I'm at the bus stop waiting I can use this knife to carve some little trinket. So when I saw this knife (and at that price) I just could not pass it up. I would highly recommend any Buck knife, the quality Surpasses most other companies knives. I don't think you will regret owning one yourself.

This is a nice knife, but as a couple of others have mentioned there is a problem with the spey blade design or with Buck's quality control. The spey blade on my knife sat a little too high when closed. This allowed the tip of the point and part of the blade end to be exposed. The top edge of the spey also partially obstructed the nail notch on the sheepfoot blade next to it. I didn't want to return the knife so I reshaped the spey with a few licks of a new, sharp file. Other than that, I like the knife. It is a little larger than the Case version but still easily carried in the pocket. Other than the problem with the spey blade the workmanship and finish on my 301 is flawless.

Buck has always made high quality knives and the 301 stockman is no exception. Well made, all parts machined with keen edges. this knife is perfect for just about every job where you need a small but well made knife.
