Very entertaining (and explicit) lyrics with surprisingly good rockabilly style music.

Mr. Naked (to us fans) is missed!,
By
This review is from: Buck Naked & Bare Bottom Boys (Audio CD)
I can't count the number of times I saw Buck Naked live. This CD is the only relic left of the Mr. Naked experience. The music was nothing compared to the vision of a grown man wearing a plunger, rubber chicken (look at one, you'll get it) or an animal nose mask. He had the courage to play "The I Beam" club on Haight street on [....] night. The ladies snarled and the guys just laughed the entire night. Read the song titles, you'll see why. There must be a video out there somewhere. Watch a Primus video and you might see a picture of Buck, or his old bass drum head. This is a representation of a true club band. Take it for what it is...and laugh.

Misterrockobscurities . . . get a life.,

Granted, Buck's music isn't for anyone, but, contrary to misterrockobscurity of San Bruno, it was an entirely unique genre - albeit, perhaps too subtle for misterrock . . . .
Until 1992, Buck had established himself in the San Francisco rock scene, and was just seeing his star rise nationally when an insane gunmen shot and killed him over a flock of pigoens. (Kind of reminds me of misterrockobscurity - a no-talent nutburger who assassinates with a computer keyboard rather than a gun.) Buck was a talent to behold (in more ways than one), and, to this day, brings smiles and a moment of delight as his fans reminisce. His album is different, but, it'll get you jumpin'. :>)

I have this CD and have had more friends listen to it and the first time is a ? mark on theyre face then once they hear the words have a lot of fun with it. Its sad that they have been pretty much forgotton but you are missing out on some fun music. Looks like it is over priced now but if I lost my CD I would replace it. Very fun party music. Beware of the songs and for sure it's an adult album. We just loved to play it wide open on our boat!

Graphic but hilarious songs! The hidden quality is in the music, they can play their instruments quite well. RIP Buck!

You Had to Be There,
This review is from: Buck Naked & Bare Bottom Boys (Audio CD)
Buck and Stinky played these beat up acoustic guitars. Hector played the drums standing up. All three were at a minimum, bare-bottomed. Buck with nothing but cowboy boots, cowboy hat and some sort of shades (x-ray specs the very first time I saw them in the late 80's). It was also a strategically placed ALF doll before he switched over to using the plunger. Hector, the drummer, wore a Yosemite Sam "Back Off" mud flap. Stinky was the most clothed, Western style, with the back cut out of the pants, and a raccoon tail hanging down the back.
Their shows were VERY high energy. They were hard workin' and havin' a blast, and the crowds always went completely bananas for them. Inhibitions dropped around them like pears in a hurricane. I have never felt a high quite the same as Buck Naked show. And if you are one of the fortunate who got to see them, you'll drop this CD into your player and the memories will come flooding back. And all will be right in the world.

This album is absolutely rediculous, however, it is also surprisingly good. The lyrics are gross, but also hilarious, and the music is pretty good rockibilly. If you take them seriously, they're terrible, but they're not meant to be taken seriously; I mean, all they wear on stage is plundgers and pink cowboy boots! Plus, they labeled themselves pornobilly, so you should know what its gonna be like going in. It is lewd, gross, obscene, and freakin hilarious. So definately buy this album if thats your kind of humor.

Like Mojo Nixon's Dumber Brother,

This review is from: Buck Naked & Bare Bottom Boys (Audio CD)
If I remember my local news correctly, a few years ago Buck Naked was murdered in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Well, no disrespect intended, but for the sake of trying to protect Amazon readers from wasting their money, I must report that his lone album is terrible. Buck's band played utterly ordinary bar band rock 'n' roll, and there are a thousand unsigned bands that do it a lot better. Buck was no geat shakes as a singer, either, but he had a gimmick, and that's what got him the deal to make his record. He played in the nude, save for a toilet plunger covering his manhood. And his lyrics were loaded with the sort of bathroom humor that you might expect from a naked rock 'n' roller. In the hands of someone with wit and intelligence and a sharp sense of humor, someone like Mojo Nixon for example, this could work. Unfortunately, this CD gives no evidence that Mr. Naked possessed the necessary cleverness to pull it off. So instead, you just get inane songs filled with unfunny references to genitalia, enemas, taboo sex practices, etc. Don't waste your money.
