Book Description

April 27, 2004
Drop the layers of make-believe nonsense that stunts our spiritual growth. What emerges is a positive alternative to life-crushing counterfeit faiths many of us are trying our best to work through.

To do this, men, women, and teens need the vision and encouragement to take the risk and get dangerously real with God. He exposes the naked truth: We need to dress our lives with a real friendship with God and nothing else.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Take off your designer, postmodern phoniness. Strip off your pretty-sounding words. Get your faith naked. Honest and gritty, Eric Sandras encourages a generation of believers to drop the layers of make-believe nonsense that stunts our spiritual growth. What emerges is a positive alternative to life-crushing counterfeit faiths many of us are trying our best to work through. To do this, there's no secret handshake or magic formula, but there is vision and encouragement to take the risk and get dangerously real with God. He exposes the naked truth: We need to dress our lives with a real friendship with God and nothing else.

More About the Author

Gen-X, Postmodern, Emergent, and Next-generation are all labels that Eric Sandras has lived under, taught about, and tried to find identity in. As with every generation, labels soon fade away and what is left is the worn garment we call adulthood. What Eric has found his passions to truly be are: 1) Learning to build a cooperative friendship with Jesus, 2) Becoming a really good dad and husband, 3) Igniting a deeper love for God's kingdom in others regardless of generational or cultural boundaries and 4) Having extra butter on his popcorn at the movie theatre.

Eric received his Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Relations from Oregon State University where he was also an instructor for Human Sexuality and various Child Development courses. Since graduating in 1998, Eric has taught for various universities and colleges in the Northwest. He is a frequent conference speaker and has been featured on 100 Huntley Street, Canada's largest Christian broadcasting program.
Eric lives on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State with his wife, Cynthia, and their two children, Dakota Jasmine and Carter William. He is the head coach (senior pastor) of the Olympic Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Port Angeles.

It takes a lot of courage to begin a book on Christian discipleship with this sentence: 'Sex with a stranger wasn't supposed to end this way.'. That's the start of this challenging book.

It's one that will fundamentally change - and strengthen - your walk as an authentic disciple of Jesus the Christ if you let it. I've had the privelege of knowing Eric and occasionally serving Jesus with him, and of attending a marriage workshop that he led. He's a true disciple of Jesus, a man with powerful character who is willing to share the guts and grime of his story so that God gets the glory for His work of redemption. Thanks for being a great coach, Eric.

A solid read August 24, 2005
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was refreshed by this book. I appreciated the honesty and care in which Eric handled the subject matter. It's also refreshing to read about a pastor who lays open his own heart and life allowing us into the deep recesses of his soul. I came away invigorated by the way the author's life intersected with the material he was writing about.

Moving past Buzzwords... December 12, 2004
By J. Ginn
Format:Paperback
Once in awhile a book comes along that strips away all of the pretenses and leaves you feeling like you actually heard from God as you read. Buck Naked Faith is such a book.

Authenticity has become a buzzword in the christian jargon of the day. This books goes deeper than using words, but points out what it means to develop a living, vital faith with Jesus.

The raw honesty and experience from which Eric Sandras writes ranges from the borders of humor to personal pain and points to a great God who loves to exercise grace.

I'll never look at a Bonsai tree the same way again.

Well done!
