I shoulda stayed with the 35 pocket,

Yep, this thing is handy, alright, but they added non-stretch pockets to the outside to increase the number. Bad idea. The pockets are just a tad smaller than on the 35, so there's actually a net loss in storage space because fewer things fit in these pockets. I find that alot of the stuff I used to snug into a pocket on the 35 get tossed into the bucket on the 56 cuz they just dont fit without a fight. If the pockets had just a little bit of 'give' to the fabric, or there were more 'balloon' pockets, I'd claim this was a bigger winner than the 35.

Better than a box,

The Bucket Boss is one of those brilliant why-didn't-I-think-of-it ideas you see every now and then. It seems so obvious, after all. Every tradesman has more 5 gallon buckets than he (or she) knows what to do with, and a lot of these buckets get turned into toolboxes by default. They get filled with boxes of screws, random power tools and hand tools, and miscllaneous stuff from the shop or site. For the price of a cheap plastic toolbox, the Bucket Boss provides a way to organize all those tools and parts into a convenient package. They're far more rugged than the typical plastic toolbox- no hinges or latches to break. They're also a far better way to organize your gear than the typical toolbox, with its single removeable tray. Even if you have to buy the bucket new they're still a better deal than most toolboxes. I've got three of them now, roughly divided up by task. I've got a plumbing bag (that replaced the old rusting plumbing toolbox), a general construction bag with my toolbelt, square, chalkline, tape, small handsaws and so forth, and another with screws, nails, screwdriver, corded drill, screwgun, zip tool and other small tools. Everything is out where I can see it.

Makes you money, keeps you sane.,
This review is from: Bucket Boss 01056 56-Pocket Bucket Tool Organizer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this bucket based on the recommendation of the first reviewer (Thanks, George!) and it's worth every penny. I have had several bucket pouch sets but they all seemed to come up a bit short - little did I know how short until I started using the Bucket Boss 56. Earlier brands always seemed to have pockets that were too short, too narrow, too wide or too deep - it was always a chore to store. The layout of this unit was well thought out. Theres a place for even those really weird shaped things. It just seems that the pocket you need is `right there' more often than not. A lot of thought went into this pouch. In just a few months I am sure it has paid its way on the job site already. With the really tough materials it's made from it looks like the ongoing savings will go into my pocket for a long time hence. After all isn't that what tools are for?

After evaluating many brands and almost giving up looking for a bucket organizer I came across an Amazon Tool Catalog. I was skeptical about ordering a Bucket Boss but decided to go for it. I was quite surprised to see that the quality & versatality of this item far exceeded my expectations. This was definately a 5 star purchase!

This tool is built to last, with very strong stitching and materials. I have loaded mine up with everything from wrenches, nails, screw gun, hammers etc, and there are still pockets to put more stuff. The pockets are also well shaped and pleated, so that tools and materials don't fall out. There are a few minor limitations. It can get tippy, depending on the bucket you use, and how you load it. I put the hammers in the bucket head down, and that helps a lot. The other problem I have had is that because there is so much space, it can get really heavy! There was an accessory I saw someplace that added wheels to the bucket. Something to consider if you are going to be hauling it long distances when full.

Overall, this is a pretty good organizer, made from attractive material that looks like it will last a long time. I bought this bucket organizer to replace one that I had purchased at Lowe's some time ago. I became disappointed when I started to move my tools from the old organizer to the Bucket Boss 56. First, there is no obvious place for a 25' tape measure. My old organizer had a nifty metal clip on the outside of the bucket near the top, which kept the tape measure handy. I drilled out that metal bracket and moved it to the Bucket Boss, attaching it to the Bucket Boss using a couple of small screws and nuts.
Another odd design feature is that they placed holders for a power drill and hammer on the same side of the bucket. These are the two heaviest tools I carry, so there is no counterbalance and the bucket tilted to one side. Again, I salvaged the much sturdier hammer holder (a metal half circle) from my old organizer and attached it to the opposite side of the Bucket Boss using four small screws/nuts. My two final complaints about the design are that there are too few small compartments for screwdrivers, pencils, center punches, etc., and no compartments long enough to hold files or a 12" - 15" ruler. So, before purchasing this item, take a careful look at the photo of this organizer and mentally map your tools to the available compartments. I'm sure for many consumer it will work just fine, but that was not the case for me.

I do residential electrical work. After using a tool pouch and a tool belt I thought I would try the bucket boss. This product works great for my purpose. I can carry all of my necessary tools to the job site and inside the bucket I place things like junction boxes switches and receptacles. All of my tools are there where I need them and I don't have to dig around in a pouch for them. The only thing I have noticed about the boss is when traveling in my van I remember to remove my drill because the bucket will spill over when the drill is in the boss.

We have 2.5 yrs old ds and 1 yr old dd, and it seems like crayons, marker, paint brush etc always on the race around the house.
I bought this organizer. What a lifesaver! though it didn't design to store kids stuff, those pockets are much better than the plastic container, which my son always dump the whole content just to get his favorite marker! I love this product and thanks for previous helpful reviews!

Holds a ton of hand tools and more, but it winds up being top-heavy under a full load. I put my Bucket Boss 56 in the back of my wife's minivan without securing it (I figured the weight of it would keep it stable for the short ride), and the first right turn she took sent the whole thing flying, dumping all my tools from the inside and outside pockets all over the back of the van. What a mess! I've since gone back to using my old Duluth Trading Company GateMouth tool bag which is super stable.

I used to have a tool bag, but after that basically fell apart, I went out and got me a bucket boss. It was a great choice. I've had it for about 6 months now and not a rip or tear in it. It holds all my tools, with room for more. It's so much easyer to use then a tool bag because all your tools are right there for you to get. No more digging aroud trying to find something. A great buy.
