Tough as nails but spring clips are weak,
By Granite Stater "granitestater" (NH United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bucket Boss Brand 07004 Duckwear Tool Roll (Tools & Home Improvement)
Like all Bucket Boss products the fabric is tough and durable, while the roll looks as if it could hold a ton of tools. But with a full load of wrenches, sockets and other hand tools as soon as you hoist it up by the handle with any force, the weight of the rolled tools is too much and the roll starts unraveling. If you don't load it too heavily, it'll do the trick. I wound up replacing the weak spring clips with some heavier duty ones.

A disappointing tool roll,

This looked like it would be a good tool roll, but overall it was disappointing. The "fabric" is some sort of plastic that doesn't hold tools particularly well. The tool pockets are pretty shallow (about 3 1/2"). The straps have plastic clips that are hard to draw up tightly. The combination of these factors allows tools to easily fall out of the end of the tool roll. Rather than lose tools, I "lost" the tool roll.

The toolroll is slightly different than the photo. The socket clip is replaced with 3 baggy edge pockets that are velco-sealed via a single long flap... a nice feature. The outer tie strings are replaced with web straps secured via plastic friction buckles. You must feed each strap through its buckle, then back, and pull it snug... it's a little cumbersome. The main area has 22 pockets.

The interior lining started to tear and crack almost immediately. Better to keep it all canvas than this rubbish. Shame on you Bucket Boss!

Tool Roll Needs One More Feature,

I found the tool slots in this roll to be well designed. I also liked the three small pockets on the end. These are good for small tools and fasteners. However, I was disappointed in the cam buckle design for the straps that keep the roll closed when you are storing it. While the cam buckle is necessary to adjust the strap length to the size of the roll, this tool roll really needs a quick release buckle like is found on so many other products. This feature would make it really handy and useful.

i just recieved this product the other day i have loaded it up and it holds alot. i bought it so i can have some place for hand tools in tool bag. the onlything is that i don't think the little spring clips will hold it shut very well. i would have prefered velcro or just a string

I bought two of these. I might even buy a third one in the future. I used one of mine to help organize some of my tools in the car and the other for the house. The pockets come in various sizes and I put loose wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers in them. Although not strictly a wrench roll up this roll worked very well for me, I haven't used the Velcro closure pockets or the socket strip, but they could be handy in the future. I like the way it closes and rolls up to a small size, along with the handle on it.
This is a useful multi purpose roll-up, if you want a roll-up strictly for wrenches be aware that the pockets range from very small to extra large, you may be better off to buy one made for strictly wrenches. However for overflow wrenches and assorted tools this is just what I needed. It seems to be very well made and durable.

Not worth the money..,

I purchased these tool wraps as a way to seperate my tools into job specific tool bags. These wraps were made of flimsy thin material and would not withstand any kind of regular usage let alone the type of environment that I work in (elevator mechanic). Also the straps were thin and the buckles were small plastic feed through type. Not convienent to work with on a regular basis and prone to fraying after regular use making them useless.
These bags would have been better if they were made of a more substantial material and if they had snap-in clasps for ease of use and access. Spend a few more dollars and get the ones that will last and have all of the features that you want.

Gets the job done,

It's just what I wanted. I can put my metric wrenches on one side and my SAE wrenches on the other, and it still leaves room for some screw drivers. It's simple and gets the job done.

Can't argue with the quality construction, but not very practical once you load it with tools. A slightly smaller profile that was meant to hold half as many tools would be handier. And offering in two colors would allow you to grab the roll you needed. And frankly I'm not fond of the buckles either. For tool rolls as with tools -- simpler is better. I wish I hadn't bought it.
