2004: I am a professional carpenter who just recieved the bucket boss mullet buster tool belt today. I have shopped around for a new one for a while and was drawn to this one for several reasons. The set up of the belt system is different from most others and the best set up for me (pockets position etc.) In New England, most of us buy Occedental leather belt systems but they have drawbacks of price (extemely expensive) and set ups are limited.

What I like now that I have the bucket boss belt in hand: What you get for the money is outstanding. The bags appear tough and well stiched. There are a ton of pockets and you can arrange the belt as you like. Lots of velcro to keep everything in place where you set it. tape pocket, hammer holster, big nail bags. excellent all around.

DRAW BACK: I am 5'9" tall and slim and the suspenders (another option I was looking for) are almost useless. At their tightest setting the bags still droop below where I would like them, I cannot use the suspenders. If you are a bigger guy (taller or with a belly for the suspenders to stretch over) this would likely not be a problem. But am am a regular sized person. The belt and inner belt pad were also HUGE and I had to cut them down to make them fit comfortably. I am not happy to have to cut up a brand new purchase to fit.

10/2009: Just an update, Ive had these bags since 2004, the right side bag has finally given out, that is a lot of abuse and use in 5 years and I am buying this set just for the two bags again. They are a tremendous value for the price compared to anything else available on the market, even for the bags alone. I ended up putting the two bags and the tape holder on my leather occidental belt, and that was a winning combo for me. Many will find the suspenders and belt useless due to their over size, but if you can use them, it is an even better deal. After using the bags for 5 years, I upgraded my star rating on these to a 4 out of 5 from a 3 out of 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mullet not required!, June 5, 2004

Mullet Buster? Interesting name - great tool belt. I bought this primarily because of the padded suspenders. I don't like standard tool belts which fall down after a while unless you tighten them up well, which doesn't feel comfortable to me. The suspenders put the weight on your shoulders which works better for me. It also looks impressive!

An insane amount of storage pockets are on this belt, and the cell phone pocket on the suspenders (which do come off by the way) is handy. It puts the phone closer to where you can hear it. I used to hate never hearing my phone when strapped to my waist in an noisy environment. Actually, there is a second phone pocket around the waist area, which is handy if you have a cell phone and a 2-way radio, you can protect them both. Clever!

I'd definately recommend this tool belt.

The mullet buster is an excellent bag for someone size XL-XXXL. For the rest of us (I'm 5'8", 180 lbs), the suspenders are too long for anyone but the big or tall. You either throw them away or look for a creative modification to make them shorter which is what I did. For the money it appears to be a great buy, and it looks like it will hold up pretty well. I just wish it had come with the "meat hook" as advertised, and that my cell phone actually fit in the cell phone pocket they brag about (fold-up phones only). You get your money's worth, but just don't expect what's in the picture.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable and more, January 27, 2005
This review is from: BucketBoss Extreme Gear 55035 Mullet Buster Tool Belt (Tools & Home Improvement)
We are commercial door/frame/hardware installers. 2 of us have an Occidental Oxyvest, we all have had conventional toolbelts, and 3 of us have this Big Boss Mullet setup. 3 of us have found it to be very comfortable (big plus!). I am ordering 2 more for our employees that like it as well. I would make some very minor changes, add a small pouch or two over the main bags, We like lots-O-pockets! Sure would like the normal "claw and square" holder rear left pouch. I've only noticed one other bag by CLC Signature that seems to compare, it is over twice the price! Then there is the Occidental Full Fist setup, looks pretty good, again...price. Been using the bags for a month or so...no major complaints, and quite a lot of praise. If I lost the bags today, I would buy them again tomorrow. That says it all!

3.0 out of 5 stars I love the belt, not the customer support, August 29, 2007

I have had my belt for a couple years now. I am 6' 200 pounds and am about the smallest the belt is designed for. I wish the suspenders would be adjustable but they worked ok.

Anyway, a couple months ago the cordless tool hook broke off (the metal broke, not the plastic). I passed it off as one of those things that can happen and went to using a clip on hook.

The suspenders are the one problem area I have never really cared for. The metal is soft and the suspenders would constantly pull out of the attachment hook. I would have to put them back together and crimp it to hold. Well today the hook finally broke.

I remember when I bought my belt Bucket boss was advertising the satisfaction guarantee. I called them today to see about getting new suspenders and if possible a new hook. They do not sell parts to their belts. And they only have a one year warranty.

I still like the belt but I do not think it is worth the money if you can't even get parts to fix it. After this I will not buy another BB product again as they do not hold up like they advertise.

After searching for a tool belt through many makers I settled on this one..I wish I could go back, because I would have chosen a different one..I have been in construction for 40 years and the only good thing I can say about this apron is it dosen't hurt my waist. The people who design these things,,oh well..The straps are too long,,they want stay adjusted right,it is laid out good on the left side but the right kinda stinks,,the pencil holders are conceiled inside a bigger pocket,I don't have time to search for where my pencil goes everytime I use it..It is a very stiff manmade meterial, the hammer holder is in the back, hard to get to..Who designs these products,A 12 year old could do better...Wake up America

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid everyday nail bags, July 6, 2007
This review is from: BucketBoss Extreme Gear 55035 Mullet Buster Tool Belt (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought these bags about 5 years ago and wear them every day. I've put them through their paces and they've held up well, though the hammer loop did break last month..easily replaced for $10.

I do alot of framing, and though these are big bags with lots of room, they lay flat which allows you to easily pass through 16" spaces.

The suspenders and padded waist belt are in fact useless, but the bags themselves are rock-solid.

I am a full time carpenter/framer. These bags seem well built and have lots of handy pockets. But the pencil holders really are pitiful. They are quite deep and don't hold the pencil very tightly. Before the pencil is half gone it disappears in the deep pockets. Also the utility knife holder is inside the pouches main pockets. Not to bad until your pouch is full of something. I used these bags for about 2 weeks til I got to aggravated and switched.
