5.0 out of 5 stars Great book !, January 9, 2008
This review is from: Buckeye Cookery and Practical Housekeeping (Paperback)
I have an original copy of this wonderful book. You will find pinches and dashes and teacups for measurements in this volume. It even tells how to stoke the fire! I make the bread pudding recipe and it is a favorite with my family. In using this book you might have to do some trial and error for the degrees and the measurments for the recipes. For example Tea cups usually hold 4oz and not 8oz. It true fun for the kitchen, and the housekeeping is an interesting look at yesteryear. And we think that housework is hard now...NO WAY!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical for all times, February 13, 2009
This review is from: Buckeye Cookery and Practical Housekeeping (Paperback)
No matter whether you are in 1877, 1977 or 2009, the advice and tips in this book will be useful to all women trying to keep a house. The recipes are a bit dated, but can be modified. The housekeeping tips are still quite up to date. I thought the introduction was quite prophetic of our times. I love paging through this book!
