Great book, especially since photography is not allowed inside the Palace; much less expensive here than if I had purchased it at Buckingham Palace!!

The Spectacularly beautiful, but admirably restrained cover of 'BUCKINGHAM PALACE: OFFICIAL SOUVENIR GUIDE", promises great things inside. And indeed there are!Wonderful paper-stock, with coloured photographs and informative text. Only -- for me, there weren't ENOUGH pictures, and the pictures were way too tiny to see the details within them. The text likewise was too small. If it is too expensive to altogether replace this book with one having more pictures, bigger pictures, and bigger text, may I respectfully suggest that such a book STILL be produced, and that the current one ALSO continue to be produced, so that people buying this official and wonderful souvenir might have a choice. Some might go for the present, smaller book. But as for myself, I would prefer the larger version, with more and larger photographs, and larger sized text. Yes, I already own the present version....but would SO like to purchase an enlarged edition, as well!

Buckingham Palace is not on the level of other palaces like the Catherine in St Petersburg, the Habsburg Schonbrunn, the Prince Bishop's in Wurzburg, Versailles, etc. The guidebook does provide a lot of history with photos and drawings. Had the layout followed the format of the Windsor Castle guidebook it would have been much better. Fortunately the writers did provide lists of the items in each room (pictures, furniture, porcelain, etc).I wish that less white blank space existed on many of the pages and that the photos had been larger. It would have been interesting to see the living quarters and guest rooms. I think the book is worth $4-10.
