Praise for Buckland!,
By Casimir (Panama City Beach, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Buckland's Book of Spirit Communications (Paperback)
This book, really introduces you to mediumship quite well. Delivered in such a way, that goes through the history of Mediumship (and related phenomena), and exercises for developing your own Medium skills. Each chapter is delivered as a "Lesson", complete with questions at the end of each lesson to reinforce what you've learnt. Now I myself, am a occultist, and am well accustomed to high magick, but Mediumship was fairly new to me, or atleast in this mannerism. I recommend this to anyone with an interest in conversing with the deceased, crossed over loved ones, or spirits in general. However for those more adept, and already accustomed to Mediumship, this really isn't for you, but for beginners, it is an excellent source.

Great Spiritualist Reference!,
By Artemis MOOnSong "Wicked Witch of the West Coast" (The Western Sky, OZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Buckland's Book of Spirit Communications (Paperback)
After much hassle trying to obtain this book, I finally got it and am very glad that I did.
Not only is this book about different methods of spirit communication, it is also a very thorough look at the history of spirit communication and Spiritualism. There are also quizzes, exercises and journal space within the book to track your progress. I also recommend Christopher Penczak's "Spirit Allies" in conjunction with this book, as both have so much information to offer a reader who is interested in the topics herein.

Do you want to know about spiritual relms?,
This review is from: Buckland's Book of Spirit Communications (Paperback)
This book is set up like all of Buckland's books which are in chapters with question to answer at the end of each one. He also gives a little matter of fact account at the end as well which is either a place or a person and something ghostly that happened or is about them. If you are a mid level advancement you should be fine with this book. Im not saying for beginners not to read it Im just saying that beginners may not be able to take what happens to them if they are not more advanced, if something happens at all. Spiritual sight will help you while reading this book.

Buckland's Big Red Book!!,
By
This review is from: Buckland's Book of Spirit Communications (Paperback)
Mediums are people who have always held a certain type of fascination for me, especially now. Just recently I went to the local pagan/metaphysical shop, and what do I happen to catch on the shelves but Raymond Buckland's Book of Spirit Communications (ala the Big Red Book). What a fascinating topic and book. I love Buckland's readability factor. He isn't even sounding "too Wiccan" for me here, but he IS very traditional. Look to the chapter study questions to further reap the rewards of your reading and (if you want to) stick the completed questions into you BOS or personal journal for later reference. This is a great way to actually learn the material.
But this book is not about typical magickal practices. Buckland covers ghosts/spirits, automatic writing, Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVPs), automatic art, divination (including Ouija/spirit boards), spirit photography & mediumship, among other things. He discusses how one goes about tapping his or her psychic centers (chakras) and psychic abilities, such as tuning into a spirit for channeling, automatic writing and the like. This book has opened me up to the idea that (at least, according to Buckland) anyone can become a medium. Now, of course there is a marked difference between those who have the gift just naturally, where it comes to you without really any focus or major effort at all on your part---and then there are people like myself, who are by no means gifted with this ability up front and center, so to speak. Using this book I truly hope to unlock my latent, little-used-so-far psychic abilities. This book has given me hope in attempting to do this! A stellar work on the subject, I highly recommend this to anyone interested in spirit communication, the history of the Ouija Board, or magick in general.

The book was ok i guess,

....I saw all the good ratings so i reconsidered giving this book more stars but i just can not. I really didn't get much out of this. It wasn't like a practical book about you learning how to communicate with spirits, it was more of a book about spirits and people who dealt with them. I'll give it 2 stars because i suppose there were interesting pictures of spirits and ectoplasm and such but that's all this book will get from me.

...Just OK...,
By Odyn (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Buckland's Book of Spirit Communications (Paperback)
This may be an OK book for a beginner...it was not what I expected. Buckland seems to repeat some of his other books in this one. I was not very impressed with it's content, but I do like the "workbook", question and answer format of it.
