Sometimes it goes to show that you don't have to win to be the winner. I loved Bucky's voice and sound from the first time I watched him on American Idol. I do agree that last year's season brought many different and talented voices...one being Bucky. This is the third Cd that I have picked up from last year's winners...Daughtry, Elliott Yamin and now Bucky's. And I can say I haven't been disappointed on any of my choices. I just picked it up today and opened it immediately so I could listen to it on my drive home...this was the first time that I wished my drive home down the country road had been longer.

I must brag and say that I saw something in Bucky, during his idol time, that not everyone else had. He needed some training as far as performing, but oh my! that raspy sexy voice! My favorite song is "I'm Good". Wow - what a charmer of a song that is. I love blasting it and singing along. Really so many great songs on this - it is a must for a country fan - and even for someone like me - more a rock lover.

Really enjoyable,

If you liked Bucky on Idol (which I did very Much). You'll be real excited about hearing this album. He's really talented not in a loud way, but more subtle and gentle. I think that is what is so likable about him. His songs really show him well on the album. And I am happy he is having this success

A BRILLIANT START TO A LONG CAREER,

Bucky Covington's debut CD, Bucky Covington, is an awesome CD that has been well worth the one year wait, since his exit from American Idol, Season 5. This CD contains rock tunes, country, and ballads. What makes this CD so wonderful is that every single song is great, so there is no need to hit the skip button. Bucky's deliciously raspy voice sings each and every track on this CD to perfection. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys great music.

Another solid debut from a season 5 Idol Contestant,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Bucky Covington (Audio CD)
The sixth contestant from AI season 5 to release an album in the past 6 months, Bucky Covington continues the streak of solid debuts by alums from that season. Even more surprising though is the fact that having listened to Elliott, Taylor, Kellie, Katharine, and Chris' CD's I think Bucky's debut is one of the better of the 6. I think Chris and Taylor's albums are superior to this one, but after that I think Bucky's debut is the next best of the 6. I never really liked Bucky on AI, and was frankly very surprised to hear he had landed a record deal. Despite the fact that I still think Bucky has one of the weakest voices of season 5's top 12, this album is a very strong country debut. The album contains the essentials for what a good country album should have, and I also think the album has a lot of potential to be commercially successful, not as much so as Carrie's Some Hearts, but there are definitely some real radio ready songs on here. Here's my individual song reviews:
1. American Friday Night-A very fun way to open the record, and one of my favorites on the album. Bucky talks about a typical high school Friday night in a good old USA town. Definitely one of the catchiest songs on the album as well, should be a big country hit and might even have pop crossover appeal. I'm not sure why this wasn't the first single, but hopefully it will be one of the singles. 9/10 2. A Different World-The first single, and a somewhat odd choice since it's not really the type of song that should be released as a first single. It's a mellow song that talks about how much simpler life was back when Bucky was a kid opposed to today. It's a decent song with good lyrics, but can get boring very quickly. I do think that Bucky's voice sounds exceptionally good on this song though. 7/10 3. I'll Walk-A country ballad, this song tells a very touching tale of the lives of a couple where the woman is crippled but insists "I'll Walk" during certain times in their relationship. The song is one of the strongest lyrically, but unfortunately lacks any real hooks. This makes it a tough listen since the melody is very forgettable. Gets points for the lyrics though. 6/10 4. Back When We Were Gods-A song about the cockiness and feeling of invincibility that Bucky and his friends had when they were teens right before they were about to start their adult lives. A solid song that grows on you. 8/10 5. Ain't No Thing-A mediocre twang type song where Bucky insists it "Ain't no thang" when his girlfriend breaks up with him. Typical filler track. 5/10 6. I'm Good-Pure catchy, sing a long fun. Bucky tells the tale of a guy who's got his eye on the "deacon's daughter". Problem is he's a rough chewin, cussing red neck, and she's a dainty devout Christian. So the guy calls on god for just one favor, to give him "this girl, and I'm good." My personal favorite, if any song on here can be a big hit on country and pop stations, it's this one. 10/10 7. Empty Handed-Another catchy, entertaining track, this one has a distinct almost southern rocker feel unlike any of the other tracks. I wish there were more songs like this on the album since I think Bucky's voice fits really well into the southern country/rock type genre. 9/10 8. Hometown-A very laid back track about a small simple town that Bucky hopes that heaven is just like. This one is similar to A Different World in that it can be kind of boring, but it can also be a very pleasant song to listen to if you're in a relaxed mood. 7.5/10 9. Good to Be Us-Probably my least favorite song, Bucky talks about a couple in love with everything they need. Just another filler track in my opinion. 4/10 10. Carolina Blue- A melodic mid tempo song that's well written and is catchy enough to stop it from being boring. Bucky talks about being blue over missing Carolina, which can be interpreted as a person or the place. This is another I could see as a hit on country radio. 8.5/10 11. Bible and the Belt- A straight up country track where Bucky talks about getting his religion through how Mom preached the bible, and Daddy preached the belt. A solid way to close out the album. 7.5/10

Not a bad album,

Bucky Covington is a former American Idol contestant who had a country twang. He didn't win the show but he is out with his first album. On the show Bucky seemed to have people who either liked him or they didn't. I liked his raspy twang. This album is a pretty decent country album. Today it's called country, "when we were boys and girls" it was called Southern Rock. The first single, "A Different World" talks about how things have changed in the world since people of Bucky's generation and older grew up in. I first read something with the same exact words in an email last year, not sure which came first the email or the song, probably the email. Bucky's vocals remind me a lot of 80's country group, Shanandoah.
If you liked Bucky on the show and you like country/rock you'll probably like this album.

I was sceptical at first cause I really did not like his voice. It soon grew on me and now this has become one of my favorite CDs. Songs like I'll Walk and American Friday Night can make anyone take a second look at Bucky.

Well, this was a most amazing Idol season! I get goosebumps everytime I hear Carrie Underwood sing. I LOVE Kellie Pickler's album. I even like Taylor Hicks. Have not heard Elliot's, Daughtry or McPhee's yet. Have heard the play on the radio and they seem like good music. But, I was blown away by Bucky's album. Who'd have thought it'd be so ear pleasin?
Love his song, It was a different time, although I don't believe for one second he remembers a time before seatbelt laws!! He has a wonderfully nasal country twang that melts with his deep, soft voice. I can't really think of anyone he "sounds" like. He's his own sound and the minute I heard his song on the radio, I HAD to buy the album on release and I am so glad I did, I love it.

The Best I Ever Had,
This review is from: Bucky Covington (Audio CD)
Bucky Covington's self titled CD is the only CD I have ever listened to that I truly enjoy every single on it. I listen to it over and over and never get tired of hearing it. His first single from it, "A Different World", is approaching Top 5 on the Country Charts. I cannot wait to hear what his second single to be released will be. I think "Its Good to Be Us" may be it, followed by "I'll Walk" as a third release. Of course, when attending live concerts with Bucky, the crowd always loves "I'm Good". See, I love the whole album.

I loved Bucky on American Idol and knew I would love his album. This classic country album fits him perfectly! He has always known who he is and what fits him. I loved this album from the first listening and can't get enough of it!
